Top immigration policy adviser hands in her resignation as Biden border crisis rages on

Another top official is bailing on the Biden administration. This time it is Esther Olavarria, a pro-amnesty advocate supportive of all migration to the United States. She is a key decision-maker on immigration policy in the White House.

Olavarria, the deputy immigration official in Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, will retire. Who can blame her for doing so at this time? The Biden administration has allowed the southern border to reach a level of crisis never seen before. Biden’s poll numbers once showed approval for his handling of the border but that is no longer true. Americans see regular reports from the border on FNC but not much coverage on other networks. This administration and its willing partners in the press pretend that if they just ignore the mess that has been created by Biden’s open border policies, the problem will work itself out. That isn’t the case, of course, but no one in the White House seems willing to tell the old man that he has to swallow his pride and rise above his vindictiveness towards his predecessor and return to the Trump administration’s policies that worked. Securing the southern border is a federal responsibility.

Susan Rice heads the Domestic Policy Council. She released a statement on Olavarria’s decision to retire and calls her “the ‘OG’ of immigration.”

“I could not be more grateful for Esther Olavarria’s myriad contributions to the Biden-Harris Administration, particularly her work to reverse the cruel and reckless policies of the previous Administration and to implement President Biden’s vision for a fair, orderly, and humane immigration system. “

It’s standard for the Biden administration to reference “cruel and reckless” policies of the Trump administration. You know, the policies that worked and respected the rule of law on the southern border. The administration continues to show how unserious it is about their responsibilities. It is not humane to allow the humanitarian and public health crisis on the border to be normalized.

It is reported by Politico that Olavarria hasn’t announced her last day yet and is expected to continue to work for the time being. Last month I wrote about Tyler Moran, Biden’s senior adviser for migration, also deserting the sinking ship. She leaves her job at the end of January. Rice made the same statement about making an effort to “rebuild a fair and humane immigration system.” The people Biden has brought into the White House for immigration policy are pro-migration and pro-amnesty. Some of them haven’t lasted very long, though. Breitbart points to a West Coast versus East Coast rivalry in the administration.

Alida Garcia, a top lobbyist at the pro-migration advocacy group, FWD.us, worked in the White House but was let go after several months.

In September, officials announced the departure of David Shahoulian, Assistant Secretary for Border and Immigration Policy. He is a former Hill aide to Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the top Democrat on the House immigration committee.

It boils down to the East Coast faction who are more practical and less radical than the West Coast hires. Olavarria’s resignation and those of the others are seen as a win for the East Coast people. Biden is having a hard time straddling the fence on the issues of migration and amnesty because, let’s face it, he isn’t up to the task of running the country.

The pro-migration deputies are tied into the West Coast faction in the White House. The West Coast faction is headed by Vice President Kamala Harris, who is backed by the West Coast technology investors at FWD.us, and by their subordinate immigration advocates. This wing has pushed far-left policies that have damaged Biden’s polls and his ability to accomplish other goals.

But Biden’s East Coast faction is made of older Democrat staffers who are more willing to recognize the civic costs and political risks of easy migration.

Of greater concern than the turmoil within the administration about immigration policy is the question of what DHS Secretary Mayorkas is up to these days.

Amid the turmoil, DHS chief Mayorkas is mapping out a careful plan that uses regulations to open a wide variety of quasi-legal doorways on the border.

This “fair, orderly, and humane immigration system” is intended to minimize TV publicity and public alarm while delivering myriad workers, consumers, and renters to the Democrats’ business allies — and many migrants who may eventually become voters for the Democratic Party.

It sounds as though he is figuring out a way to squash television reports that are already essentially limited to one major cable network in order to keep Americans unaware of the destruction this administration had brought to the border. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

One interesting story that came out yesterday that ties in with immigration policy had to do with an old tweet by Kamala’s new communication director, Jamal Simmons. He is facing some blowback from progressives for an anti-illegal immigrant tweet. On November 29, 2010, he tweeted out a question after watching a program on MSNBC.

That is the same question many of us keep asking – when illegal aliens appear on television and flaunt their status, why are they free from prosecution? It sends a message that there is no respect for federal laws or for those who come to this country through the legal process. Simmons can’t admit that, though, so he apologized when the tweet surfaced.

“As a pundit I tweeted+spoke A LOT. At times I’ve been sarcastic, unclear or plainly missed the mark. I apologize for offending ppl who care as much as I do about making America the best, multiethnic, diverse democracy+I’ll rep the Biden-Harris admin w/humility, sincerity+respect,” Simmons tweeted.

That’s the Democrat way – feelings over laws. Simmons is already an iffy choice for Kamala’s office because of his past comments about her, Joe Biden, and the COVID-19 vaccines developed during the Trump administration. He is supposed to overhaul Kamala’s communications team and make it run smoothly as her poll numbers are worse than Biden’s. We’ll see how long he lasts.
