Dr.Brett Giroir is speaking out against Anthony Fauci’s ever-expanding ego. Fauci critics took him to task for declaring that he represents science on a Sunday morning talk show. His arrogance was offputting, to put it mildly. Giroir, a former Assistant Health Secretary in the Trump administration, aired his opinion of Fauci’s statements during an interview with Brett Baier on Special Report Monday evening.

The retired four-star admiral noted the change in Fauci, at least in public appearances, over the last ten months. Since Biden took office ten months ago, Fauci has taken a turn since Giroir last worked with him. Giroir also said that Fauci should come clean about gain of function research.

Speaking on Fox News on Monday, Admiral Brett Giroir, himself a trained physician, said that he had witnessed a significant change in Fauci’s behavior in the ten months since he last worked with the nation’s top doctor.

‘I think the ego is really expanding beyond what I saw,’ Giroir began.

‘Look, Tony was a good colleague when I worked with him but he’s become much more politician and it is a fact that the NIH his institute funded gain of function research. That’s a fact, it’s not a rumor or a lie by anyone in the Senate so why do you say that’s a problem?

But Giroir wasn’t done when it came to criticism of doctor Fauci and advised the doctor to stick to health issues and avoid stepping into politics.

‘You know, I think he needs to stick to the area where he is most knowledgeable, and that is about vaccine development. He’s not knowledgeable about liberty or rights, or public health measures, if he sticks to his firm ground he’ll be a good resource for the country, and that’s probably all I have to say,’ Giroir directed.

Stick to vaccine development, Fauci, and leave the politics to politicians. It’s notable that Giroir is speaking out because he isn’t really known as someone who blasts others in interviews. He offers his professional opinion but doesn’t make it personal. Fauci’s ego has gotten the better of him during the coronavirus pandemic and colleagues are apparently getting fed up, too. We’ve all seen the glowing press coverage of Fauci, though a closer look at his career finds a less impressive record of accomplishment. He’s a long-time government employee who often sounds more like a bureaucrat than a medical expert. His desire to keep Americans under the thumb of government mandates, for example, has become apparent as time goes on and the pandemic eases. Some politicians want him to be held accountable.

Fauci is known for battling with Senator Rand Paul, also a doctor, when he testifies before the Senate. Ted Cruz has joined in with Paul to demand accountability. Fauci’s ego refuses to allow him to be questioned too strongly, though, before his smug attitude surfaces. He believes his own publicity. Fauci’s fifteen minutes are long over and most Americans have tuned out on him anyway. He has consistently made mistakes along the way with his guidance during the pandemic. He isn’t expected to be perfect but some humility would go a long way now.

It is striking how Fauci has gone full speed ahead in weighing in with his political opinion, especially in the last few months. Before Trump left office, Fauci usually tried to temper his remarks and now he doesn’t even make an attempt to do so. He accused Cruz and Paul of lying. Cruz has called Fauci a ‘smug unelected technocrat’ and he’s not wrong. Senator Tom Cotton pushed back on Fauci’s inflated ego, too. Cotton says Fauci endangered Americans by supporting gain of function research.

‘Tony Fauci lied to Congress and he should be investigated. He repeatedly said that his agency did not fund dangerous and risky gain of function research in those Wuhan labs, which almost certainly was the origin of this virus, ‘ Cotton said.

‘He put the American people at risk by funding this dangerous research, which was happening under the Obama administration, which he thought he knew better than the people’s elected representatives.

‘It’s just another example of how these bureaucrats think that they are the science, that they represent the epitome of knowledge and those grubby politicians, like the president of the United States and United States senators and representatives, have no business telling them what to do. That’s not the way our democracy functions.’

There’s plenty of egos to go around here. We expect it from politicians. Doctors are held to a different standard. We expect more humility, especially from someone looked upon as the top medical expert leading us through a pandemic. Fauci’s time as the face of the pandemic from the medical community has expired. He’s no longer trusted by most Americans outside of Washington, D.C. and his inflated ego now being exposed only proves the wisdom of those who have had enough of him.
