House Republicans plan to introduce a bill that would stop the Biden administration from shelling out payments of $450,000 to illegal immigrants affected by the family separation policy of the previous administration. If the report of such payments is true, the total amount distributed would amount to up to a billion dollars. Critics compared this to the compensation extended to families of military service members who are killed in action.

The public outcry from the reporting was loud and came quickly. Yesterday, as Biden took questions from reporters at the end of a speech he rambled through about COVID-19 vaccines for children, FNC’s Peter Doocy asked the president about the payments. Biden, who just ignored the question from Doocy when asked at the G20 meeting in Rome about it, called the reporting “garbage”. Doocy asked if the money “might incentivize” immigrants to come. Biden responded, “If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah, but it’s not true.” The implication was that it was just fake news from FNC but it was the Wall Street Journal who originally reported the story. Even the New York Times called the report legitimate.

It’s scary how out of touch and clueless Biden is about what his own administration is doing. He’s dangerous. I’ll take mean tweets any day.

Members of the House GOP will act today. The plan is to introduce a bill that will put a halt to a plan that Biden doesn’t even know about. Rep. Tom McClintock, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, will introduce the Illegal Immigration Payoff Prohibition Act. It amends 18 USC 2414, which gives the attorney general the authority to enter settlement agreements.

The bill would block the attorney general from making any settlement payments to illegal immigrants that directly arise from their violation of immigration laws, including laws that criminalize illegal border crossings and that make a migrant inadmissible for attempting to enter a country illegally at a port of entry.

In other words, the bill directly addresses exactly what Doocey was asking about, the incentive a cash settlement would deliver to others thinking about illegally crossing into the United States. This bill ties the hands of the attorney general from bowing to the demands made by illegal immigration activists on behalf of those who enter the United States illegally. It clearly states that payments are prohibited.

To amend title 28, United States Code, to prohibit payments of compromise settlements arising out of certain violations of the immigration laws, and for other purposes.

The bill is co-sponsored by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan. There are 135 other members who have signed on to it. Republicans are coming together to provide a way to put a stop to this insanity. Crime does pay during the Biden administration.

“Who says crime doesn’t pay? Under Biden it apparently pays very well indeed,” McClintock said in a statement. “Law-abiding, hardworking Americans have seen their purchasing power decimated by Biden’s economic policies while he has surrendered our southern border. Paying illegal immigrants $450,000 apiece as an apology for Trump’s decision to enforce our immigration law adds insult to injury. Congress has the power of the purse, and that’s why we must act today to stop this outrageous plan in its tracks.”

Kevin McCarthy has requested a meeting with Biden to discuss border security and provisions for amnesty reported to be in the reconciliation infrastructure bill, though the Senate parliamentarian has ruled against putting amnesty into the bill.

“With all the challenges Americans are facing every day – including an unprecedented border crisis – providing $450,000 per person settlement payments to illegal immigrants is pure insanity,” he said in a statement. “This is not only an insult to the American people, but also will worsen the border crisis and lead to a business boom for drug cartels and human traffickers, who are already exploiting Democrats’ disastrous border policies.”

“Democrats lock down the economy, pay people not to work, raise your taxes, and now want to give illegal immigrants $450,000 checks paid for by American taxpayers,” Jordan said. “Our bill would make sure the Attorney General can’t unilaterally make that happen.”

Yesterday, Senator Daines (R-Montana) introduced the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022. This bans payments that may arise from the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance policy on the border. Two dozen Republican senators, including Leader McConnell, supported it. The bill was introduced as a standalone measure.

This is important – Republicans coming together and working in both the House and Senate to push back on bad policy, including social issues policy. The GOP has been emboldened by the results of elections on Tuesday that prove the American public is tired of the woke craziness coming from the progressive left. A clear message was sent to Biden that his policies are out of step with regular Americans. Republicans don’t have a majority in either the House or the Senate but the margins are very slim and Biden needs to be reminded frequently that he has no mandate from American voters to ram through policies that are not in the best interests of our country.
