Biden's virtual inauguration is “going to have to be more imaginative" than the dreadful Democrat convention

Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20, 2021, will be unlike others we’ve seen in recent years. It will likely be comprised of virtual events instead of a big production with a massive crowd of people on the National Mall. There may or may not be an inaugural parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.

People want to celebrate, though, he said Friday, so there will be some type of “platform ceremony”. It won’t be a bigger version of the RNC’s Rose Garden event last summer when President Trump accepted the nomination and his re-election campaign formally began. Biden wanted to be sure to virtue-signal about how he is following the science, though he spoke of that without wearing a face mask, and his intent was a dig at Trump. He wants to keep people safe, you know, implying that Trump does not. It’s how Joe Biden, the civil and nice guy if you listen to his supporters, conducts himself. The Swamp creatures take nuanced jabs at each other instead of Trump’s blunt manner of speaking.

Biden contrasted his cautious approach to the Republican National Convention in August, which included hundreds of GOP dignitaries sitting shoulder-to-shoulder on the White House lawn as Trump accepted his party’s nomination during a 71-minute speech — capped off with a fireworks display.

“It’s going to have to be more imaginative,” he said from a theater in Wilmington, Del. “I think the convention we put on really opened up avenues that we never thought existed.”

Biden’s staff is consulting with public health experts to get some guidance on planning the events of the day. He told reporters that the inauguration will likely be like the 2020 Democratic National Convention, only better. Remember what a snoozefest that multi-night production was to those of us at home? The best part of it was the state roll call and I don’t know if something like that could be put into the mix. Maybe Creepy Joe can get some of his celebrity friends to come and liven things up. Just spitballing here but I imagine that Eva Longoria or Julia Louis-Dreyfus would jump at the chance to narrate something for him.

Joe’s inauguration committee is up and working on arrangements for the 78-year-old’s big day. It is raking in big bucks to pay for galas and balls and the like but it’s not clear how much of that sort of celebration will occur.

There is an inauguration theme, that much is known. The theme is “Our Determined Democracy: Forging a More Perfect Union.” That’s a pompous slogan – “a more perfect union”. Really? Biden and his team do not lack arrogance.

The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) is responsible for planning the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol on Jan. 20. The theme of the swearing-in ceremony will be “Our Determined Democracy: Forging a More Perfect Union.”

The six-member committee is led by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and includes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

The JCCIC says the ceremony will be on the West Front of the Capitol. That is where the platform ceremony will take place. If there is a parade, the District has repaved Pennsylvania Avenue in preparation. It is unclear if the offices of members of Congress will be distributing tickets to the inauguration this year. Travelers to D.C. will have to get a negative coronavirus test before coming. If you’re staying longer than three days, D.C. rules say that you must receive another coronavirus test in the city. There is also a 14-day quarantine requirement for visitors coming from certain states.

Bless his heart. Joe Biden has been trying to get elected to the presidency since 1988. He finally got his big dream job and now the celebration has to be dramatically scaled back.
