Cynthia Nixon to Biden: Calling Pence "a decent guy" is unacceptable

So, Joe Biden caved. Actress, LGBT activist, and failed New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon called out Joe Biden for the unforgivable offense of describing Vice-President Mike Pence as “a decent guy”. How dare he!

During an appearance at the Forum in Global Leadership at the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday, Biden described the vice-president in the most basic of terms. He simply called him a decent guy. This is about the very least a person can call another person before the person is called an indecent person. Good heavens. Biden mentioned that it’s unusual for an American vice-president to not be warmly applauded overseas during a speech as he brings regards from the president. It was a swipe against President Trump, truth be told. The international swells in the audience of Pence’s speech at the Munich Security Council sat on their hands.

“The fact of the matter is it was followed on by a guy who’s a decent guy, our vice president, who stood before this group of allies and leaders and said, ‘I’m here on behalf of President Trump,’ and there was dead silence. Dead silence,” Biden said.

NBC News reported in 2017 that Biden is friendly with Pence and at that time spoke to him about once a month.

Biden wasn’t agreeing with Pence on a socially conservative level. He was simply stating his opinion on a personal level while discussing foreign policy, as they have both been in elected office for so long a period of time. They know each other. It really is that simple. But because Biden gave an opinion that wasn’t a snarl to Trump, Cynthia Nixon was triggered. Her point was that Pence is not a decent human being because of his alleged hatred of the LGBT community. As many rainbow flag carrying social justice warriors do, Nixon paints Pence as a monster because of his religious beliefs. While he served as governor of Indiana he publicly supported gay conversion therapy. Over time this kind of therapy has been discredited by the psychological professionals. A gay man recently wrote a piece on Fox News online in support of Pence and to explain that Pence isn’t an anti-gay bigot.

At the root of the vice president’s erroneous mislabeling as an anti-gay extremist is Pence’s admittedly poor handling of the passage of Indiana’s version of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act in 2015 during his term as governor of the state.

The legislation asserted that government “may not substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion” – a rather specific law with narrow applications.

Although similar legislation was passed at the federal level in 1993 after it was approved 97-3 in the U.S. Senate and signed by Democratic President Bill Clinton, liberals pounced with declarations that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act would open a door to rampant discrimination.

Opponents of the law claimed it would allow any business in Indiana to refuse service to members of the LGBT community simply by citing “deeply held beliefs.” Of course, that wasn’t the case, but the false narrative spread across the nation, sparking outrage.

The writer goes on to say Pence has publicly stated that if he discovered a restaurant, for example, wouldn’t serve gay people, he’d not eat there. Pence was the first Indiana governor to sign protections into law based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Liberals on social media pounced when Biden’s “decent guy” line was tweeted out by reporters. Cynthia Nixon indignantly called Pence “the most anti-LGBT elected leader” and asked him to “consider how this falls on the ears of our community”. For good measure, Nixon “snitch tweeted” (a term I just learned) Biden’s wife at the end of the tweet. I guess Jill Biden is to be expected to keep her Joey in line, or something. Ugh.

Joe Biden is about to announce his candidacy and jump into the mix for the 2020 Democratic nomination. Naturally, he had to immediately acquiesce to Nixon and tweeted out his lame-ass response. A candidate hoping for a primary nomination in the party of identity politics cannot possibly show any decency to anyone not sharing every political opinion, and certainly not of the opposite party. Biden’s cave was cowardly.

So, yeah, in pursuit of the Oval Office – though he’s flamed out in 2 other attempts – Joe Biden threw his friend under the bus and did his part to keep the gay bigot trope going. How pathetic. Remember that the next time you hear a Democrat, or Biden specifically, call for civility in political discourse. Remember that the simple label of being a decent guy is a bridge too far for the far left.
