Will Christine Ford testify before the Judicial Committee Thursday?

Does the Senate Judicial Committee finally have a date set for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford to appear and tell her story in hopes of derailing the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court? Maybe. Saturday night – long past the last deadline of 2:30 P.M. Saturday afternoon – ABC News reported that a tentative agreement has been made for Ford to testify Thursday, according to two sources.

So, we’re still reading the tea leaves from sources, not named players in this overwrought, non-stop drama, but perhaps it is a step in the right direction.  At this point, I think most Americans are just ready for this whole circus to be over with already.  There were some interesting developments, though, before the breaking news about Thursday. One was the announcement by Andrew McCabe’s attorney, Michael Bromwich, that he has joined the growing Ford legal team.

If Ford is going to testify and she just wants to stay out of the spotlight (she doesn’t really) why increase the legal guns? And a white male, at that. Oh, my. Clearly, she and the legal eagles are riding this wave as long as possible and then cash in on it with a book or maybe a made for television movie later. Ford has proven herself to be a product of the Washington swamp, that is clear now.

Also, remember that other girl that was supposed to be at the party with Christine? As Ed described it last night, up until yesterday that person was not publicly named but she has surfaced and guess what? She denies knowing Brett Kavanaugh and has no memory of attending the party. She was Ford’s last hope. There are four named witnesses by Christine Blasey Ford and all four have now denied her allegations.

On Saturday night, Leland Ingham Keyser, a classmate of Ford’s at the all-girls school Holton-Arms and her final named witness, denied any recollection of attending a party with Brett Kavanaugh.

“Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford,” lawyer Howard J. Walsh said in a statement sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Ms. Keyser describes herself as a lifelong friend of Dr. Ford’s. This story is unraveling quickly. This is definitely not going as she must have planned.

If I were her, I would cut bait and stay put in California. Now, though, she will pack her bag and gas up the car and drive across country to tell a story that is more and more difficult to believe by the day. What exactly has panned out for her? Nothing but a stack of legal bills of her own making. Her friends can’t vouch for her story, some named witnesses (like Kavanaugh) say they don’t even know her, and she has few details to present to the committee. It’s a she said, he said situation that will end as it was going to all along. The only ones who have her back are Democrats trying to erase the 2016 presidential election result. Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed and be the next Associate Supreme Court Justice.  Surely even retiring Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) won’t vote against Kavanaugh in Committee as it wouldn’t be beneficial to his future presidential run. He’ll need all the conservatives he is currently busy mocking and criticizing.

This is all a political stunt gone wrong for the alleged victim. The Democrats are happy to exploit her for their own purposes. Some on the Judicial Committee used Kavanaugh’s public hearing to gain exposure for future presidential runs and some enjoy the spotlight and the fundraising opportunities. If this was all truly about helping women and working against sexual assault, it would have been handled much differently. Senator Feinstein would not have kept the letter from Dr. Ford secret until after Kavanaugh’s hearings concluded. He looked like he was on his way to confirmation so the last minute character assassination going all the way back to high school was launched. It’s backfiring, Democrats are scrambling, and the lawyers are racking up billable hours.

Frankly, this whole thing has Hillary Clinton’s fingerprints all over it. She’s blasted Kavanaugh on Twitter and when MSNBC host Rachel Maddow recently asked her about due process for Kavanaugh – something she and her husband claimed he didn’t get when allegations came forth against him – she said yes but then quickly turned it back to Ford and Ford’s need to be heard. Funny how that happens. Hillary Clinton has been destroying the lives of her husband’s accusers for decades so she is very well versed in the process. Debra Katz is tied into the days of Clinton’s defense over his own sexual scandals. Hillary just can’t get off the stage since she lost so spectacularly to President Trump. Every time she is quoted, I am reminded that every day Hillary Clinton isn’t president is a good day.

If the Thursday agreement comes to fruition, let Dr. Ford be heard. Let Judge Kavanaugh respond after that. Then it’s time for the Judicial Committee to vote. It is past time for ending this charade. It’s time to vote.
