Jewish UM Regent's Home Vandalized: 'This is Terrorism'

Things are not going well at the University of Michigan. Earlier this year the anti-Israel students on campus tried to force the school to divest from Israel by running to take over the student government and then holding funds for all student groups hostage. The university refused to give in and the leaders of the effort were impeached.

Around the same time, the NY Times reported that despite spending $250 million on DEI initiatives the school's campus climate had gotten worse rather than better. As a result there were rumors that the board of regents were seriously considering making cuts to DEI jobs. That sparked a backlash led by the school's DEI chief, but despite that the school announced last week that it was abandoning the practice of mandatory diversity statements for applicants. That is a big deal at UM because the current DEI created and ran that program and was exporting it to other universities.

But the left-wing free-for-all hasn't ended yet. Early Monday morning, someone decided to take revenge on one of the regents by vandalizing their home. This particular regent, Jordan Acker, is Jewish and lives in a neighborhood that is 60% Jewish. He compared what happened to the activity of the Klan.

In the very early hours of this morning, while my wife, my three young daughters and I were asleep in our beds, we were awakened by the sound of two heavy [objects] thrown through the front window of our house. While my eldest daughter ran into our room, frightened by the sound of breaking glass, I ran downstairs, saw the broken window, and then ran outside to find my wife’s car had been graffitied by anti-Semitic vandals. This is the third time that I — and now my family — have been the target of these Klan-like tactics. We all need to call out this cowardly act attacking my family and my home for what it truly is — terrorism. And like we always do in this great nation when we’re confronted with terrorism — I will not let fear win. All this does is harden my resolve to continue to do the right thing for the University and the Michigan voters who elected me. I call upon members of the Michigan community to publicly repudiate this vile anti-Semitic intimidation, and to offer full support to law enforcement to root out these bigots so they see the consequences for their actions.

The two objects thrown through the window were mason jars that apparently contained urine. Leftists are disgusting.

Acker is hoping the FBI and the US attorney will get involved in this case.

Acker said he calls on every elected official in Michigan, whether they're on the political right or the left, to publicly condemn this sort of behavior. "It's not enough to condemn privately," he said. "We have to say publicly this is not acceptable no matter where you stand on the issue of Israel and Palestine.

He said he would like to see the U.S. Attorney's Office in Detroit and the FBI become involved in the investigation into the attack. "It's pretty obvious this is a civil rights violation and I wish the U.S. Attorney's Office would take it seriously," Acker said.

So far no one has been arrested but a neighbor called police after seeing two men running from the house. They were apparently caught on a doorbell camera. This is the second time protesters have come to his home. The previous incident happened in May and was also caught on camera.

Acker's law firm was also vandalized in June. The same group has also targeted UM President Santa Ono in October on the first year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel.

Ono’s home in West Bloomfield, not his university-provided home on South University Avenue in Ann Arbor, was defaced with spray-painted messages such as “coward” and “intifada,” the Arabic word for uprising that Palestinian activists use to mean the “shaking off” of Israel.

Acker is right that this isn't an act of protest, it's designed to terrorize and intimidate. The goons behind this won't stop until they are put in jail. Hopefully that will be soon. Here's a local news report on the latest vandalism.
