NBC, CBS, CNN Call Nevada for Trump, Still Waiting on the AP

Earlier this morning several major news outlets finally called Nevada for Donald Trump, bringing his electoral vote tally to 301 in their counts. Here's NBC News:

NBC News also has a story up:

President-elect Donald Trump has carried Nevada over Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race, NBC News projects.

Trump lost the state’s six electoral votes in both of his previous runs for the White House. But those defeats against Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden were both by less than 2.5 percentage points, and Trump and the Republican Party have made significant strides with Latino voters and other voting blocs key to the state since then.

While Nevada elected a Republican governor in 2022 — Trump-endorsed Joe Lombardo — Democrats managed to hold on in other close races up and down the ballot, a recurring theme in recent years. But Trump’s victory is a breakthrough for the GOP in a state that Democrats have mostly dominated of late. Republicans hadn’t won the presidential contest there since 2004.

Nevada had a political machine built on Hispanic union members in the state, most of whom work in the service industry in Las Vegas. It was a creation of Sen. Harry Reid and for many years it effectively kept Republicans from winning the state. But that machine seems to have crumbled this year thanks in part to Donald Trump's improved performance with Hispanics and also possibly his promise to eliminate taxes on tips, which seems like a direct appeal to service industry workers. According to the NY Times, Nevada's Clark county, which contains Las Vegas, saw a shift of nearly 7 points toward the GOP when compared to the 2020 election.

Here's the CBS News call:

I don't see an announcement from CNN on X but if you visit their election page they also have Trump at 301 EVs and show Nevada as a called race.

For some reason, the Associated Press is still holding off and has not made the call in Nevada yet. There are outstanding mail-in ballots which can arrive as late as Saturday and still be counted, but at this point the estimate is that 97% of the vote has been counted and Trump leads by nearly 50,000 votes or about 3 1/2 percent. There doesn't seem to be any way Harris could climb back into this race so the AP's decision not to call it seems odd at this point.

With Nevada called by nearly everyone, that just leaves Arizona as the final state which most major outlets haven't called yet. As of now, just 76% of the estimated vote has been counted. Trump leads by 5% or about 155,000 votes. A win in Arizona (Decision Desk has already called it) will bring his total electoral votes to 312.
