Andrew Tate, his brother and two female accomplices were arrested in December of last year. Their cars were towed away and all four were held in jail for several months while investigators worked on the case. At the end of March, all four suspects were released to home confinement. The investigation continued but it was unclear when (or whether) charges would be brought.

Today that changed. Andrew Tate was charged with rape, human trafficking and the creation of a criminal gang. The rape charge was exclusive to him but his brother Tristan was charged with instigating violence.

The indictment marks the end of a criminal investigation into Tate and two Romanian associates as prosecutors referred the case for trial. The prosecutors’ statement said the injured parties were “sexually exploited by group members” and forced to produce online pornography through acts of “violence and mental coercion.”…

Prosecutors said the four formed a crime group for human trafficking in Romania, Britain and United States.

“The injured persons were recruited by the foreign nationals, by misleading them about the intention to establish a marriage/cohabitation relationship and the existence of real feelings of love,” the prosecutors’ statement said, adding that seven victims have been identified.

One of the suspects is charged with rape in relation to two incidents in March 2022, according to the statement. Court documents previously seen by The Washington Post indicate that Andrew Tate was being investigated for two incidents of rape that month of a Moldovan woman he is alleged to have trafficked from London.

Tate has been tweeting up a storm in the last couple days. Lots of it are his own brand of inspirational videos but he has tweeted a few things that are clearly about his case. He RT’d this.

And suggested the government was just going after his wealth.

A reporter came to his gate to ask for his reaction to the charges and was pushed back by a couple of security people.

Finally, he posted this video which is now a pinned tweet. The gist is that men in the spotlight get falsely accused of rape. It cites cases against Cristiano Ronaldo, Johnny Depp, and a Brazilian soccer player named Neymar. The clip suggests Tate is just the latest example. This is followed by statements from a bunch of his girlfriends/cam girls proclaiming his innocence.

Tate will get his day in court. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how many women say he didn’t do anything to them. What matters are the ones who say he did and there are now several of them who have come forward.

The Tate brothers or their lawyers will be in court tomorrow for a presentation of the charges against them. A judge will then have up to 60 days to review the case. Tate’s attorneys say they have evidence to exonerate him.

The legal team specifies that now “the referral of the case to the Bucharest Court, the judge will set a hearing in which he will either communicate the indictment to the defenders chosen by Andrew and Tristan Tate or set a deadline for communicating the indictment by post. At the same hearing, the judge will discuss whether a preventive measure against the defendants is necessary.”

“Our main objective will be to establish the truth and ensure a fair and impartial legal approach by presenting evidence and proof relevant to the case. The referral of the case for trial will allow us to present a comprehensive body of evidence, diligently gathered and prepared over time, which will undoubtedly be essential in exonerating the defendants.”

The Tate brothers seem to be suggesting in some of their tweets that now that a judge is reviewing the case it will be found to be lacking. So I guess we’ll see if that’s true or if the judge decides there is enough evidence for the case to continue to trial. Here’s a Sky News report on the charges.
