It’s chilling that this man had a shot at becoming the UK Prime Minister in December of 2019. He ran as a far leftist, including plans to nationalize industries. But what really dragged him down was an anti-Semitism scandal that erupted inside the Labour Party.

At the time, Corbyn did his best to answer those charges but made a complete hash of it. Of course none of that stopped AOC from promoting his campaign. After Corbyn’s loss there were several articles written about the limits of socialism’s appeal.

Corbyn was kicked out of the Labour Party because of his comments about anti-Semitism. He was readmitted but was not allowed to run for a seat in parliament. In early 2021 he started the Project for Peace and Justice. Recently he appeared on a Beirut based television network and called for the west to stop sending weapons to Ukraine:

“Pouring arms in isn’t going to bring about a solution, it’s only going to prolong and exaggerate this war,” Corbyn said. “We might be in for years and years of a war in Ukraine.”

Corbyn gave the interview on Al Mayadeen, a Beirut-based TV channel that has carried pro-Russia reporting since Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

“What I find disappointing is that hardly any of the world’s leaders use the word peace; they always use the language of more war, and more bellicose war.”

He added: “This war is disastrous for the people of Ukraine, for the people of Russia, and for the safety and security of the whole world, and therefore there has to be much more effort put into peace.”

This is the kind of leftist, peace-at-all-costs nonsense that makes me want to kick the furniture. There’s no doubt Putin’s invasion is a disaster for Ukraine and for the young soldiers he has sent there to fight. But not supporting Ukraine would effectively hand Putin an easy win which would result in Ukraine becoming an autocratic puppet state under the control of some Putin-selected leader. It would also likely encourage more invasions to follow (by Russia and maybe others) since Putin would have paid very small price for his unprovoked attack on a neighbor.

None of this seems to occur to Jeremy Corbyn. For him, peace seems to equal a willingness to surrender all you have to someone else’s control simply because they demand you do so. There is literally no hill worth dying for in Corbyn’s world.

Corbyn went on to defend himself against the charges of anti-Semitism which doomed his election:

“I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that my clearly stated support for the right of Palestinian people to be able to live in peace free from occupation, free from being under siege as in Gaza, and for those living in refugee camps … played a factor in all this. Benjamin Netanyahu couldn’t wait to condemn me for my support for the Palestinian people.”

The Labour MP Margaret Hodge condemned his remarks. She said: “To suggest our fight against antisemitism on the left means that we are all part of a conspiracy to smear Corbyn is frankly absurd and of itself antisemitic. This consistent failure to understand and distinguish between our Jewish identity and the complex Middle East political issues is at the heart of why Jeremy continues to be outside the Labour party.”

Even his own former party thinks he’s a crank. Thank goodness the voters had enough sense to reject him. Here’s a flashback to the last time Corbyn tried to squirm out of this.
