Former President George H.W. Bush, who just buried his wife first lady Barbara Bush on Saturday, is in intensive care, CNN has learned…

Bush, 93, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning with an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former Republican President. He was in critical condition, the source said.

The source added that Bush’s blood pressure kept dropping and a couple of times there was serious concern about whether he was going to come through, but that he had been stabilized.

The story adds that Bush’s family has been concerned about how he would handle the stress of losing his wife. President Bush is 93-years-old.  A spokesman issued this brief statement about the hospitalization:

Barabara Bush died last week and, in a previous statement, his spokesman revealed President Bush was with her until the end:

He attended the funeral wearing a pair of knitted socks decorated in blue, red and yellow books — a tribute to his late wife’s work promoting literacy.

On Friday, during the public viewing of Barbara Bush’s casket, George H.W. Bush offered his hand to many of the around 2,500 people who walked through the church to pay their respects.

This clip from CNN is lengthy and gives a more detailed description of what happened. The President’s family is described as “reeling” from his hospitalization so soon after the death of Barbara Bush.
