The Booker-Flake snowball fight

Two U.S. Senators held a mock duel/snowball fight in front of the Capitol today. Sen. Jeff Flake, a frequent Trump critic, and Sen. Cory Booker, a possible Democratic candidate for president, announced the plan on Twitter this morning:

By this point, you may have thought of 15 things to criticize here. Is a duel which killed Alexander Hamilton something to make light of like this? If you’re a Trump supporter: Flake is such a snowflake! If you’re a taxpayer: Why are they wasting their time and our money playing? If you’re anyone: What’s with the turtleneck, Booker? Are you trying out for the next Bond villain?

Honestly, I’m surprised SJW’s haven’t complained that the white guy is wearing white and the black guy is wearing black. Someone is going to write a term paper about this for their white supremacy class. In short, there are a lot of reasons almost anyone could find to get worked up about this.

One of the things I like best about being a conservative is the fundamental idea that everything need not be about politics all the time. We not only believe there is life outside politics, we encourage others to believe it. By contrast, the left insists that everything must be passed through their political filters for approval. You can’t watch a movie or read a book without first being cognizant of a whole series of doctrinal statements from the holy writ of intersectionality, all of which seem aimed at enforcing group conformity (and othering those who dare to disagree).

I don’t want to be part of their cult. I choose to resist assimilation by the progressive borg. So I’m drawing a line at this silly snowball fight. Is it a waste of time? Yes. So what? Not everything needs to be fodder for partisan criticism all the time. But if you’re wondering who won, it was Flake:
