The Daily Beast has a Friday afternoon scoop. Apparently, Chief of Staff Kelly told reporters a rather embarrassing story about how Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was fired. Daily Beast reporters weren’t there but got the story from three sources who were:
According to those sources, Kelly recounted a very awkward conversation with Tillerson during which he informed the secretary that President Donald Trump would very likely soon fire him. The awkwardness was less a result of the contents of the conversation than its setting.
Tillerson, Kelly told the room, was suffering from a stomach bug during a diplomatic swing through Africa, and was using a toilet when Kelly broke the news to him.
Sources were stunned that, even in an off-record setting, Kelly would say this—to a room filled with White House officials and political reporters—about Tillerson, who does not officially leave the State Department until the end of the month.
The point of this off-the-record meeting with reporters was to calm speculation that more heads were about to roll. Nothing says ‘we’re all on the same team here’ like publicly humiliating the last guy who got the ax.
Axios, whose reporters also were not invited to the meeting, reports that Kelly also said incoming economic advisor Larry Kudlow’s past cocaine problem wouldn’t prevent him from getting a security clearance, adding the 90s were “a crazy time.”
Not everyone is buying the Tillerson story:
I call bs (sorry) on this Tillerson poop story. Not that Kelly didn’t say it. But there’s no way Tillerson says “hey John, good to talk to you. I’m sitting on the crapper.”

Some suggest that, if true, it shows an unwarranted level of disrespect:
