Michael Moore: Trump will win re-election unless we undercut the electoral college

Michael Moore predicted Trump would win the 2016 election. Now he’s predicting Trump will win re-election unless changes are made to the electoral college. From Fast Company:

Filmmaker and activist Michael Moore tells Fast Companythat the president will be reelected in 2020. “I should say re-appointed, because we will have an even larger population that will vote against him in 2020,” Moore says. “But he will win those electoral states as it stands now.”…

[Hillary] lost the electoral college by 77,000 votes in total in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, and despite a movement afoot now to abolish the electoral college, it’s unlikely that is going to happen anytime soon, Moore says.

That said, he believes the National Popular Vote interstate compact, an agreement between states to award all of their electoral votes to the candidate who wins the popular vote, could succeed as a workaround if we can convince enough state legislatures to pass it in time.

The compact has already been passed in 10 states plus the District of Columbia for a combined total of 165 electoral votes. The law would take effect once states totaling 270 electoral votes have passed it. At that point, whoever wins the popular vote would automatically win the election.

It’s not hard to guess why progressives like Moore would support this change. It allows their overwhelming majority of voters in California to determine the outcome of the national election rather than the current electoral college system. If the popular vote system had been in place in 2016, Hillary Clinton would have been elected.

Moore predicted Trump would win last July and repeated his prediction several times prior to the election. Moore also vowed after the election to lead the charge against the electoral college:
