Don Trump Jr.: 'In retrospect, I probably would have done things a little differently'

The full interview with Donald Trump Jr. hasn’t aired yet but Hannity and Fox News are teasing it with a clip which may turn out to be the headline. “In retrospect, I probably would have done things a little differently,” Trump Jr. says. He continues, “Again, this is before the Russia mania. This is before they were building it up in the press.

“For me, this was opposition research that had something, you know maybe concrete evidence to all the stories I’d been hearing about that were probably underreported for years, not just during the campaign. So, I think I wanted to hear it out. But, really, it went nowhere and it was apparent that that wasn’t what the meeting was actually about.”

You can see this clip starting 2 minutes into this preview segment with Martha MacCallum:

In another clip released to preview the interview, Trump Jr. tells Hannity he did not tell his father anything about the meeting. “It was such a nothing. There was nothing to tell,” he says. Stick with this clip and you’ll see Charles Krauthammer’s reaction to the news. As he sees it, there’s no criminal act here but the argument made by the Trump administration for the past six months just went up in smoke. “There was nothing to show that the Trump administration was aware of or supporting the Russian interference in our elections,” Krauthammer said. He added, “And this just showed up today in black and white, released by Don Jr. himself.”

When MacCallum points out that no information was actually shared, Krauthammer responds, “It’s a hell of a defense to say that your collusion was incompetent and it didn’t work out. The fact is that this is not just opposition research…this is a foreign power, and not just any foreign power, an adversary foreign power.”

I’m sure we’ll have more on this topic tomorrow once the full interview airs tonight.
