Report: Huma Abedin giving Anthony Weiner one more chance

Huma Abedin is working on her marriage with Anthony Weiner according to a story that appeared in the New York Post over the weekend.

Sources tell The Post that Hillary Clinton’s righthand woman is now giving the marriage another try.

“Huma has been working hard on her relationship with Anthony,” said a source close to the Abedin family. “He has been spending 80 to 90 percent of his time at the [Irving Place apartment] they share . . . If there is a disagreement, he goes to his mother’s apartment in Brooklyn…

Another source, who worked closely with Bill and Hillary Clinton for several years, corroborates this, saying the breakup was “more for optics for the campaign and [under] pressure from Hillary’s camp.”

I really don’t understand this. Granted marriages have problems and Weiner certainly isn’t the first guy to get caught doing something he shouldn’t have. Still, there has to be some point at which the public humiliation is too much to take.

The first go around in 2011 involved Weiner sending pictures to several women including a college student. He lied about it for a while but was eventually caught when someone came forward with pictures. Then a couple years later Weiner ran for Mayor of New York and was caught sexting once again, this time as Carlos Danger. All of the humiliation the second time around was caught on film for a documentary about the race. Weiner went from leading candidate to 5th place finisher.

Things really hit rock bottom in 2016 when Weiner was caught sexting a 15-year-old. This time Abedin actually separated from him (though it sounds as if that was mostly for show). There were reports he was being investigated for child pornography because of the girl’s age.

When it came to Hillary Clinton, staying with Bill always made a certain pragmatic sense. He was a state Governor and then, during the blue dress days, he was president. Bill was a cad, but the Clinton political machine must have been a powerful incentive to stick around, especially for someone as ambitious as Hillary Clinton.

But Anthony Weiner has no such appeal. He lost any chance of a political comeback after the humiliation during the New York mayoral race. No one is going to believe his ‘I’m a better person now’ story ever again. And with the most recent sexting incident involving a minor, you have to wonder if he’ll be offered a decent job ever again. People, even people with kids, get divorced for much, much less than what Huma has put up with so far.
