Donald Trump struck a humble tone Saturday when he visited a black church in Detroit. “Becoming the nominee of the party of Abraham Lincoln…has been the greatest honor of my life,” Trump told the audience. He continued,” It is on his legacy that I hope to build the future of the party, but more importantly the future of the country and the community.”

“I believe we need a civil rights agenda for our time, one that ensures the right to a great education” Trump said. He went on to say that he wanted to help rebuild Detroit.

Inside, everything was respectful. There was an interview of sorts which the New York Times reported Thursday had been scripted in advance. After that story broke, Bishop Wayne T. Jackson told local media that he had prepared additional questions that Trump’s camp had not seen.

However after the interview today Trump did get up and gave a brief speech to the congregation. When he finished, he was presented with a prayer shawl and a bible by Bishop Jackson. This video includes Trump’s entire speech plus the presentation of the shawl at the end:
