Catherine Herridge at Fox News has another late-breaking update on the Clinton email investigation.

Rep. Mike Pompeo, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, tells Fox News, “I can assure you the intelligence committee is working on determining the scope of any breaches that may have resulted from the improper handling of classified information, and the damage assessments that go with them.” “I think we all understand that we had classified information in channels that weren’t secure on Secretary Clinton’s homebrew server and that risk was associated with that,” Pompeo adds.

Catherine Herridge notes that “federal regulations require damage assessments after classified information is outside secure government channels, such as a personal server.” If Rep. Pompeo is correct then the assessments taking place might point to an as-yet-unreleased determination within the FBI that classified information was mishandled. That’s not much of a stretch given that at least 22 emails found on the server were judged to be top secret and above.

The Fox News report ends with a reference to DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz awkward admission Sunday that Clinton’s use of email was not the same as previous Secretaries of State. “She was doing something and using private email in the same way that previous Secretaries of State have done,” Wasserman-Schultz claimed. When Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace contradicted her, Wasserman-Schultz added, “Other than the private server.”

And one could add, other than the 2,100 classified emails including a few dozen at the secret and top secret level.
