The UK's New 'Islamophobia' Law is Widely Panned

When the Brits recently ousted the long-time Conservative Party government in favor of the liberal Labor Party, ushering in the era of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, many observers were left wondering what sort of sweeping changes would follow. They didn't have to wait very long. The efforts of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to stem the flow of illegal migration into the country, particularly from primarily Muslim nations, were quickly swept aside. This led to widespread unrest and riots in the streets of large British cities. More recently, the new government threatened to extradite and jail foreigners, including Americans, who criticized Starmer's government. But even that apparently wasn't enough to satisfy the urges of the Labor Party. Now they are preparing to pass a new "blasphemy law" that will lock up anyone determined to have criticized the Muslim religion. One has to wonder how rank-and-file Brits are feeling about their choice to switch course at this point. (Jihad Watch)

Britain’s far-left government, under prime minister Keir Starmer, is preparing to introduce a blasphemy law that will criminalize criticism of Islam, following civil unrest sparked by uncontrolled illegal immigration and the Islamization of the United Kingdom.

The National Secular Society (NSS) warned Tuesday that “adopting an ‘Islamophobia’ definition will inflame, rather than dispel, community tensions and division” and “undermine the right of those oppressed by fundamentalist religion to speak out, including women, LGBT people, and those who hold different religion and beliefs.”

The NSS letter to Angela Rayner, deputy prime minister and Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, also warned that adopting the definition will “increase pressure” on the government to adopt other “religion-phobia” definitions.

We already knew that the British people don't enjoy the same First Amendment rights that Americans are endowed with, but this is simply getting ridiculous. First, the government opened the doors to virtually unlimited incursions of illegal migrants from primarily Muslim nations. (Joe Biden was probably a huge fan of that plan.) Then they began locking up anyone who raised their voices in opposition to the policy, a move that likely made Kamala Harris jealous. Now, they are threatening to jail anyone who publicly objects to the abusive influences that foreign, Muslim cultural norms inject into British society.

You will note that this new law does not threaten to imprison anyone who criticizes Christianity or the Jews. Only Muslims. That should really tell you something about the priorities of Keir Starmer. In a society that truly values free speech, people should be allowed to criticize any religion they wish if they do so in a nonviolent fashion. Violent rioting and attacking the police are obviously out of bounds, but even unpopular opinions must be allowed to be aired. Starmer is doing something far worse than simply suppressing free speech. He is selectively suppressing speech to the benefit of some and the detriment of others. And he's using the threat of the power of an authoritarian government to do so.

Perhaps the British people need to be taking a fresh look at the whole concept of the American Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I understand that there still may be some hard feelings lingering over all the messiness of 1776 and the events that followed. America has run into its fair share of problems when people abuse their God-given freedoms to the detriment of others. No system is perfect and human beings are complicated creatures. But what we're seeing unfolding in Great Britain right now is simply dystopian. Keir Starmer's government has veered into realms that even George Orwell didn't imagine and they've literally done it in a matter of weeks. Before long they will be locking people up for failing to wear Labor Party pins on their shirts when they leave their homes. But hey... at least the Muslim migrants will be having a good time, so I suppose it's all worth it.
