For all of the happy talk that the legacy media is pumping out about Kamala Harris' "resurgence" and fundraising hauls, it's not all peace and happiness inside of the Democratic Party these days. This fact was revealed somewhat starkly yesterday when Nancy Pelosi gave an interview on CNN where she was asked how things were going between her and President Biden. She admitted that she hadn't even spoken to him since he dropped out. That may or may not be significant, but according to the Washington rumor mill, it was Pelosi who finally shoved Biden out of the race after much of the rest of the party leadership had abandoned him. So it is perhaps understandable that there might be some hard feelings there. She also expanded on her reasons for wanting to push Scranton Joe out of the race, which came off as sounding rather brutal. (NY Post)
Nancy Pelosi and President Biden haven’t spoken since he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, the former House speaker said in an interview Monday.
Pelosi (D-Calif.) admitted that she hasn’t talked to Biden, 81, since he abandoned his reelection campaign more than two weeks ago during an appearance on CNN Monday.
The last time the two Democrats conversed would then be when Pelosi spoke with Biden before he announced on July 21 that he was ending his bid for a second term.
“I was asking for a campaign that would win,” Pelosi recounted of their conversation on CBS News Sunday. “And I wasn’t seeing that on the horizon.”
If Nancy Pelosi is hoping to kiss and make up with Biden, she's not doing a very good job of it. Keep in mind that she recently suggested that Biden's face should be added to Mt. Rushmore. But she didn't suggest that he be memorialized for having overseen a great, successful presidency. (That would have been rather silly.) She wanted to see him honored for dropping out of the race and "doing the right thing." That verbal bouquet of flowers for Joe turned out to be full of stinkweeds.
Getting back to her reasoning for the ouster, Pelosi said that she was "looking for a campaign that could win" and that she "wasn't seeing that on the horizon." Let's at least give her credit for being honest about that much. That's what all of this drama has been about from the beginning. It had nothing to do with loyalty or policies or "saving democracy." It was all about hanging on to power in Washington as long as humanly possible. As soon as it began to look like Biden would be unable to stop Trump, he was no longer of any value and he was cast aside like yesterday's fishwrap.
During the interview, Pelosi was pressed as to whether "everything is ok" between her and Biden. That answer seemed telling as well. She said, "You'd have to ask him, but I hope so." This raises the question of whether or not the former Speaker has even picked up the phone and attempted to get in touch with the President. If someone is going to be offering an olive branch in this relationship, it certainly seems like Pelosi would need to be the one to reach out first. Does she expect Biden to call her and tell her not to worry about sinking his hopes for a second term?
Don't get me wrong about this. Nancy Pelosi and the rest of her Democrat coconspirators did the country a favor by driving Biden out of the race. She removed from the table the threat of even more time surviving under Biden's terrible policies followed by a nearly guaranteed Kamala Harris presidency after Biden finally collapsed or resigned "for health reasons." Exactly how big of a favor she did us will not be known until we see if Donald Trump can get his act together on the campaign trail and pull out a win in November. If not, we'll be stuck in essentially the same boat anyway, but that won't be Nancy Pelosi's fault. Besides, she's even older than Biden. She can pack it in at any time and fly back home to retire with her husband and spend all of the fabulous cash they've mysteriously made in the stock market.
