Ilhan Omar's Daughter 'Homeless and Hungry'

Columbia University in New York has seemed reluctant to do much of anything about the increasingly violent antisemitic protests taking place on its campus thus far. University President Nemat “Minouche” Shafik has become a target of outrage in the House of Representatives. But it turns out that there are some acts of "protest" that are a bridge too far even for Columbia and they wind up taking action. That happened recently, with more than 100 students being suspended and many being charged with trespassing by the NYPD. One of them came as a surprise to me because you wouldn't think they would turn the spotlight on a student who is so well-connected. That would be Isra Hirsi, the daughter of Squad member Ilhan Omar. She was given the boot and now claims that she is "homeless and hungry" until she is allowed back on campus. (NY Post)

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s daughter, Isra Hirsi, has revealed that she has nowhere to live and nothing to eat after she was suspended for taking part in a disruptive anti-Israel protest at Columbia University last week.

The 21-year-old was among the more than 100 people arrested and summoned for trespassing by NYPD officers after the group of demonstrators set up a tent encampment on the Ivy League school’s campus to protest Israel’s war against Hamas terrorists.

Now, after being temporarily booted from the prestigious, $90K-per-year Barnard College, Hirsi said that she’s been evicted from campus housing and banned from using the dining hall.

Hirsi was photographed being taken away in handcuffs by the police on Thursday. She seemed genuinely surprised and outraged that anyone would have the audacity to treat her that way, despite her own outrageous conduct. I haven't seen any reports of her asking the standard questions of the cops ("Do you know who I am!?!?"), but it wouldn't shock me if she had done it.

Hirsi claims that she was zip-tied for roughly seven hours and processing all of the rioters was "very slow." She further claims that when she sent an email to the school informing them that she had nothing to eat, she was told that she could pick up "a prepackaged bag of food" but she was unable to do so. Given how loudly she complains about the lack of food aid for Gaza, perhaps she could write this off as a hunger strike.

Not all of the protesters are well-connected enough to land an interview with Teen Vogue the way Isra Hirsi did. That brings us to the biggest question hanging over this story. Hirsi is the daughter of a United States congresswoman. Ilhan Omar brings down a salary of nearly $200,000 with very generous benefits and expense accounts, all courtesy of the taxpayers. Surely she could transfer some cash to her daughter so she could go hit a restaurant or rent a room somewhere while she's suspended. Failing that, perhaps she could go ask one of the illegal migrants for help. They all have seemingly unlimited debit cards and free rooms. Just imagine what a great life experience that would be for a young college student. Just get out there and mix it up with the people that your mother is welcoming into the country by the millions.

Ilhan Omar has already come out and told reporters that she is "tremendously proud" of the way her daughter is "taking a stand" for what she believes. That says a lot considering that she is out there breaking the law, supporting terrorism, and harassing the Jews. But she's apparently not "proud" enough to make sure her daughter has food or a place to sleep. Unless, of course, Hirsi is making all of this up or at least wildly exaggerating. But let's not assume the worst about her, shall we?
