L.A. Mayor "fearful" that migrants could be sent to her city "at any minute"

There’s a classic movie saying from Bruce Willis that I wanted to share with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. How did that go again? Oh, that’s right. “Welcome to the party, pal!”

The Mayor was speaking at a televised event this week when the subject of illegal migration and the border crisis came up. Bass insisted that her city is “welcoming to migrants.” But she is frightened at the thought that red border state governors might start sending planes and buses loaded with migrants to the City of Angels. She was clearly referring primarily to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has gained fame for “sharing the wealth” with blue states and cities, particularly New York. But Bass was apparently unaware that Texas had already been sending buses to Los Angeles. Just not as many as have gone to New York, DC, and Chicago. Or at least not yet. (American Wire)

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass lashed out at Republican governors over their ongoing relocation of migrants who are pouring over the border to Democrat-run sanctuary cities where they have overwhelmed resources and brought frustration to local officials.

On Thursday, the former Democrat congresswoman, who was elected last year to head up the City of Angels, expressed fear that her own city would join the likes of New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. on the list of destinations for the illegal aliens who are being transported from border states to more traditionally welcoming areas.

Mayor Bass spoke at the “Visionarios” event which was hosted by Axios and Noticias Telemundo that featured interviews with “newsmakers who cover the Latino experience across sports, policy and culture today,” where she said that while LA is welcoming to migrants, she is “fearful that any day” the planes will start showing up to deposit the unwanted human cargo in her city.

Bass went on to accuse Republican governors of trying to “destabilize cities” as part of “the narrative that these are Democratic-run cities and that we don’t know how to govern and that everything is chaotic here.” Of course, that’s also rather humorous because anyone with access to the evening news already knows that everything is chaotic in the big blue cities these days and they’re already destabilizing themselves. Mayors like Bass clearly know how to govern. The problem is that they govern badly.

Greg Abbott was quick to remind her that Los Angeles is a sanctuary city by choice. He said that migrants “migrants seek to go” to avail themselves of those opportunities. Meanwhile, Texas’ much smaller border towns have been overwhelmed for the past couple of years, getting swamped with more migrants on a daily basis than his buses could transport in a month.

Of course, Karen Bass doesn’t want to draw the same sort of negative headlines that have been plaguing Eric Adams in New York. After all, she has her political future to think about. And that may be coming into sharper focus now that her name has been floated as a possible replacement for Kamala Harris. (No, I’m not kidding.)

Can you even imagine? We have a collection of Democratic mayors that have been ruining cities all around the country. So why not invite one of them to a national ticket or even the presidency, right? What could possibly go wrong?
