KJP: Pay no mind to that ISIS migrant smuggling operation

As John reported on Tuesday, a human smuggler with ties to ISIS was found bringing migrants into the country from Uzbekistan and surrounding regions. This is obviously a highly disturbing development in the ongoing Biden border crisis. It’s one thing for random people fleeing bad economic conditions at home to sneak into the United States, but if someone is setting up ISIS terror cells in our own country, we need to have people on top of the situation immediately. Yesterday, the White House press corps got around to asking Biden’s Press Secretary about this news. KJP’s response was… less than convincing or reassuring. She tried to claim that they were all over this problem and had “moved quickly” to handle it. But when she was specifically asked if we knew where all of the people the smuggler brought in were now, her answer devolved into the usual word salad. (From Katie Pavlich at Townhall)

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre was cornered at the daily briefing Tuesday about why the Biden administration allowed an ISIS-sympathizer to smuggle people illegally into the United States. Jean Pierre couldn’t account for where all of the individuals connected to the smuggler are and attempted to reassure Americans illegal immigrants who “fit the profile” will be given extra scrutiny.

The comments come after an alarming report shows countless individuals are missing and unaccounted for.

“The FBI is investigating more than a dozen Uzbek nationals allowed into the US after they sought asylum at the southern border with Mexico earlier this year, a scramble set off when US intelligence officials found that the migrants traveled with the help of a smuggler with ties to ISIS, according to multiple US officials,” CNN reports.

Here are a few of the key comments from KJP’s attempt at an explanation:

There’s no sign that anyone moved by the smuggling network has terrorism connections, so I want to be very clear about that.”

Okay… but if you can’t tell us where they all are or even how many there were, how do you know that you’ve accounted for and vetted them all? That seems like an impossible task. Also, the person who was arrested was overseas. They were obviously working with someone inside our country. Has that person (or persons) been arrested and vetted?

People being brought here by [the] smuggling network are being subject to extra vetting and are all in removal proceeding.”

That all sounds great, but – again – how are you vetting people if you don’t know who or where they are? Also, it’s nice to hear that some people are going to be “removed,” but I thought this administration’s policy was that everyone who makes it across the border has a right to stay and a right to request asylum and shelter. Does this mean that deportations are back on the table?

Anyone coming across the border outside of the network who matches the profile of those in the smuggling network is subject to extra vetting, detained, and put in expedited removal proceedings.”

Pretty much anyone coming here illegally from Uzbekistan or any of the ‘Stans could be said to “match the profile” whether they had anyone helping them or not. While we’re on the subject, everyone from any country who was brought into the country by the Mexican drug cartels was also “smuggled” into the country. Do these protocols apply to all of them as well? And we know there have been hundreds of thousands if not millions of “gotaways” since Biden opened the border. Are any of them ISIS sleeper cell candidates? Do you have any way of knowing?

I’m pretty sure we know the actual answers to all of those questions and they are quite alarming. The reality is that nobody should be coming across the border without being fully vetted and following legal immigration rules. Every bit of this rolling disaster was caused by this President’s failure to enforce the law and protect the nation’s borders. And now, for all we know, we could have ISIS sympathizers setting up shop in the United States once again and planning to launch domestic attacks. That’s just super, Karine. Thanks a bunch.
