Politifact's efforts to bail out Biden reach a (hilarious) new low

When Joe Biden hosted his big pride month shindig last week, you probably noticed the President making some rather odd claims. Or at least attempting to make odd claims during the segments of the address that sounded at least somewhat coherent. After somehow manufacturing the word “transjester,” Biden went on to describe the terrible state of affairs for gay and lesbian people in the United States. He asserted that “something is still very wrong in America.” And how does he know that? Because “someone can be married in the morning and then be thrown out of a restaurant for being gay in the afternoon.” The only thing making this bizarre claim even more incredible is the fact that Politifact rated the claim as “mostly true” almost immediately. President Joe Biden’s “Pride” pandering got a leg up Friday when fact checkers decided to play fast and loose with the “mostly true” designation after a highly dubious claim of discrimination.

For some, what the self-described Catholic president said at a “Pride Celebration” on the White House South Lawn was quickly overshadowed by gender ideologues going topless while the rainbow standard was displayed with prominence ahead of Old Glory.

But, many had taken notice of Biden’s suggestion that “something is still very wrong in America” and as BS meters registered off the charts PolitiFact swooped in for an assist to declare the “illustration is not without factual backing.”

Here was Politifact’s “explanation” of the alleged fact check.

If you follow the link, the responses to that tweet came in at a fast and furious pace. And rightly so. Even if we give Joe the benefit of the doubt here and say that it’s hypothetically possible that such a thing could happen in theory, does he have any evidence of this actually happening anywhere in the country in recent history? Because we follow these issues pretty closely and if that had happened, I’m pretty sure that the entire LGBT community would already be up in arms and the restaurant would already be shutting down under the weight of the lawsuits that would have immediately followed.

Politifact did manage to locate one instance from 2021 where a gay couple was kicked out of a restaurant in New York. But as American Wire discovered after doing some actual research, they were not asked to leave the restaurant because of their sexual orientation. They had been harassing the staff and bothering other customers. And even after all of that, the employee who asked them to leave was the one who was punished.

Just consider how little sense the entire story makes, along with Biden’s claims. Even if it remains possible that such a restaurant ejection could take place, isn’t New York City just about the last place in the country you’d expect it to happen? (Okay, maybe San Francisco would be last, but the Big Apple is pretty close to the bottom of the list also.)

What Biden was doing there was joining in on the left’s over-exaggeration of the supposed horrors facing every favored group involved in the culture wars. Gay marriage has been legal for a long time now and people largely don’t seem to care. But Biden and his friends have to act like homophobes are rounding up gay and lesbian people in cages everywhere you turn. It’s the same as the supposed “transgender genocide” that’s invoked daily but isn’t happening at all in reality. The same goes for the “systemic racism” that’s invoked all the time. What we actually have is “residual racism” in some places, and precious little of it compared to when I was growing up.

But getting back to the original point, do the folks at Politifact ever feel embarrassed over their endless water-carrying for Biden and the Democrats? Oh, wait… hold on. Forget I asked. Of course they don’t.
