The good news is that the United States isn’t the only developed country where governmental leaders have lost their ever-loving minds. Ireland has also joined the ranks of the insanely self-destructive societies. And the climate cultists in that country are probably going to have to construct a much larger alter to their new Green God because if some of their leaders have their way, they will be spending more than half a billion euros over three years to sacrifice nearly 200,000 heads of cattle to appease the Climate God. The “climate change” ideology increasingly takes on pseudo-religious aspects, demanding sacrifices from its adherents at its altar. God is dead in the West, after all, but He must be replaced with something as humans are inherently inclined to seek transcendence and meaning.

First Dutch farmers were threatened with compulsory purchases to satisfy EU emissions targets, fomenting a new revolt in the process. Now it’s Ireland’s turn, where the government is reportedly looking at plans to cull around 200,000 cows to meet its climate targets.”

Jamie Blackett of The Telegraph describes something far more insidious than just another crazy plan to reduce carbon emissions. He declares that his research shows that there is “an eco-modernist agenda to do away with conventional meat altogether.” But since they can’t just come out and say that aloud, the climate cultists are using the suicidally destructive “Net Zero” carbon initiative as cover.

The leaked documents mentioned in the article linked above provide the details of the plan, which has not yet been officially approved. If they move forward, the government will put up 200 million euros per year for three years to “incentivize” farmers to kill off 65,000 cattle annually. What they would do with that many carcasses isn’t mentioned, but they certainly won’t be processing them to feed the homeless or anything silly like that.

Make no mistake, the green warriors in the United States are eyeing Ireland’s plans with envy and they’ve been pushing for similar measures in America. They’ve gotten a head start with a US Forest Service plan to shoot feral cattle in New Mexico from helicopters. But that won’t eliminate anywhere near the number of cows they want to see destroyed.

Keep in mind that Ireland is a far, far smaller country than the United States. They reportedly have roughly 7.4 million heads of cattle. So killing off 300,000 of them works out to just under 3% of the herd. (For now.) By comparison, America currently has 92 million cattle. So to keep pace with Ireland’s “progress” in this race, we would need to exterminate roughly 2.8 million cows in three years.

As Blackett insinuated, none of this really has anything to do with climate change or carbon emissions. It’s all part of the broader progressive template of conditioning people to eat bugs and live in pods. But in the United States, the “bugs and pods” idea is wildly unpopular, even among a strong majority of progressive Democrats. Anyone running for office on such a platform would be ridden out of town on a rail, even in the blue states.

So they have to come up with a way to disguise the scheme under a different banner. Cue the Church of Climate Change. ‘It’s not that we want you to have to eat bugs, but we must stop the global average temperature from rising by one degree in the next few decades to save the world, so the cows will have to go.’
