Wray to allow Comer to "look at" Biden corruption doc

It would appear that James Comer’s announcement that he would move to hold FBI director Christopher Wray in Contempt of Congress has had the desired effect. Or at least part of the desired effect, slowly moving the ball a little bit further down the field. Wray has been stonewalling the House Oversight Committee on the release of the FD-1023 form which allegedly reveals a bribery scheme involving Joe Biden worth millions of dollars. Now, following a phone call last night, Wray is offering to allow committee chair James Comer and ranking member Jamie Raskin a chance to “view” the document(s) at Wray’s FBI headquarters. But based on the initial response, that’s not going to be enough and Comer may move forward with the contempt charge anyway. (Daily Mail)

The FBI will allow leaders of the Oversight Committee to view the FD-1023 form they say proves President Biden was involved in a $5 million criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national.

The internal unclassified FD-1023 form apparently details an ‘arrangement’ for an exchange of money for policy decisions, the Republicans have said and issued a subpoena for last month.

Oversight Chair James Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, spoke with FBI Director Christopher Wray by phone on Wednesday and Wray offered to let Comer and ranking member Jamie Raskin view the documents at the FBI headquarters in an attempt to stave off Comer’s threat to hold Wray in contempt of Congress.

The response of the FBI to this situation has been, at best, pathetic, so I don’t blame Comer if he continues with the charges. The FD-1023 form is not a classified document and if it in any way resembles the descriptions we’ve been given thus far, it would clearly be of interest to the committee as this investigation proceeds. It should have been made available to the committee immediately without Chairman Comer having to go through all of this drama.

Since the document isn’t classified, it should also be revealed to the public. If the FBI is truly concerned about protecting the identity of the witness, their name could be easily redacted in the public version, along with any other identifying details that might lead to their exposure. But the committee needs to know the name, perhaps in a classified setting, so they can vet the witness’ credibility and perhaps even invite them in to provide testimony during a closed session.

This matter goes much further than the FD-1023 itself, however. Wray and his cronies need to answer questions regarding how long they’ve been sitting on this document and what investigations (if any) were pursued once the Bureau got hold of it. This isn’t just a question of potentially serious wrongdoings by Biden Inc. It also speaks to the increasingly obvious corruption at the highest levels of the FBI and the protection scheme they’ve been running on behalf of the entire Biden family.

A lack of full compliance on Wray’s part should lead to a Contempt of Congress charge and any other legal measures that can be brought to bear. A majority of Americans no longer trust the FBI, and for good reason. Comer and the rest of the Republicans on the Oversight Committee have been facing stiff headwinds ever since this investigation began. And their Democratic colleagues are continually trying to undermine the investigation and offer cover for both the Bureau and the Biden family. But Comer and his team have continued to persevere and we need them to stay on this until we eventually get to the bottom of this very rotten barrel.
