NY Governor: You "bigoted" suburbs should take your migrants and like it

If you live anywhere in New York outside of the Big Apple and you’ve been watching the local news, there is one story absorbing most of the coverage and it involves busloads of migrants heading for suburban and rural counties. To say that people are unhappy about these developments would be an understatement, and that includes many self-described Democrats. But the state’s Democratic Governor, Kathy Hochul, appears to be tone-deaf on the subject, even as she attempts to put some political spin on the plans being cooked up by her and Mayor Eric Adams. On Monday evening, she appeared to lose her patience and told reporters that these rural counties need to “end their bigoted policies” and “accept” the migrants. (Daily Caller)

Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said Monday that the New York City suburbs should end their “bigoted policies” and accept migrants.

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams has begun sending migrants to suburban communities such as Rockland County, prompting many localities to declare states of emergencies. Officials in Rockland County have asked Adams not to send migrants to their area, calling the move “absurd.”

“There is nothing humanitarian about a Sanctuary City sending busloads of people to a County that does not have the infrastructure to care for them,” County Executive Ed Day said recently.

In order to try to lay a guilt trip on her own citizens, Hochul is portraying the migrants as “hopeful immigrants seeking work.” She described thousands of agricultural jobs that they could fill. She’s even demanding that the federal government issue all of them work permits.

Much like the Biden administration and most Democrats, New York’s Governor seems to be forgetting or simply ignoring Title 8 U.S.C § 1324. It is a federal crime to knowingly employ an illegal alien. But apparently, in the clown world that we now occupy under the Biden administration, such matters are simply minor inconveniences to be swatted away with a few comments about racist MAGA Republicans.

The mood around the state is clearly souring and the Democrats may wind up paying a steep price for this at the polls next year. This was never how the system was designed to work. Legal immigrants used to apply to come to our country and identify a family member or sponsor that could help them get established. They would then work and eventually be allowed to apply for citizenship.

The situation in New York and around the rest of the country looks nothing like that today. New York City’s sanctuary city policies completely collapsed the first time they were put to a serious test. And now they are trying to foist their problem off on suburban and rural counties without anywhere near the resources to deal with that many people. And yet again, I will remind you that these are people that should have been expelled from the country for violating our immigration laws, not refugees.

So if Hochul and Adams fail to force the migrants into rural hotels and school gymnasiums, what’s their next move? The Governor is considering moving them into airplane hangers at JFK airport. We’re coming up on Memorial Day weekend and the summer travel season. Where does she think the airlines are going to keep all of the planes? She needs to stop asking the Biden administration for funding or housing and tell the President to come pick up his migrants and send them back to their home countries.
