White House: Hunter Biden laptop story is a "distraction"

As we discussed yesterday, most of the media is doing their level best to ensure that nobody talks about “the Twitter files” or the exposed censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the run-up to the 2020 election. That’s particularly true of CNN, but most of the rest of the MSM has been following the same marching orders. So it came as a pleasant surprise when somebody finally put the question directly to the White House Press Secretary. Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the story by Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich who wanted to know if the President feels that Twitter handled the situation appropriately given all of the recent revelations. Predictably, KJP said that the story is a “distraction that is full of old news.” She then immediately sought to change the subject by pointing her finger at Elon Musk, claiming that he didn’t want people to focus on all of the “hate speech” showing up on his platform these days.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Twitter was pushing a “distraction” in releasing information about what led up to the suppression of the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday dismissed Elon Musk’s release of the so-called “Twitter Files” as a “distraction” at a time when she says the platform is facing a rise in hate speech.

The exchange came days after Musk, who acquired Twitter in late October, released bombshell revelations about what led the tech giant to suppress a New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the final weeks of the 2020 election.

Here’s the video from the press room.

Okay, so the White House wants to call this a “distraction.” Fine. But a distraction from what? From the energy crisis, the border crisis, the violent crime crisis, and all of the other crises brought on by Joe Biden’s insane policies since taking office? You might think that the Biden clan would welcome a bit of distraction at this point.

Of course, this is far from being a distraction, and it’s no longer just a story about Twitter or potential corruption involving Ukraine, China, and Biden Inc. This is a potential constitutional crisis. This is now a story about how the FBI secretly worked hand in hand with the Biden campaign in 2020 to tip the election in their favor. It’s a story about how the Bureau accessed private emails from a reporter and from Rudy Giuliani and used that information to censor a story that could have had a significant impact on the presidential election results.

The second half of the story starts after Joe Biden took office and his administration covertly collaborated with the major social media platforms to censor the voices of American citizens. That is a legitimate constitutional crisis because the President of the United States clearly appears to be guilty of violating the First Amendment. We’re talking about a potentially impeachable offense.

So will they stick with their story that this is all a “distraction?” Will we continue to be told that this is just “old news?” They might just get away with it if the majority of the country never learns about all of this because of the ongoing media blackout. And that’s a crime in and of itself.
