On Sunday evening, police in Washington, D.C. approached a suspect who had been reported as acting in a suspicious manner in Northwest D.C. Before they could even get close enough to ask him any questions, the suspect opened fire on the police, shooting one cop who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was later thought to be barricaded in a nearby house but remains at large.
As generally happens when an officer is injured in the line of duty, well wishes for a speedy recovery were soon issued by the police department and supporters in the community. This apparently didn’t sit too well with the D.C. chapter of Black Lives Matter. Someone from the group immediately took to social media to complain about how the police are “automatically treated like heroes” when one of them is injured or killed in the line of duty. This sort of treatment is what the group refers to as “copoganda.” (Fox News)
The Black Lives Matter chapter in Washington, D.C., expressed indignation that police officers who are shot in the line of duty are automatically treated as “heroes” after an officer was shot and wounded Sunday night in Northwest D.C.
A suspect is still at large after opening fire on officers on the street in D.C.’s Petworth neighborhood, the Metropolitan Police Department said. One officer, who has not been named, suffered non-life threatening injuries from being shot and was treated and released from the hospital, police said.
As the scene was still unfolding, Black Lives Matter D.C. took the opportunity to promote its #StopMPD campaign and warn against the spread of “copaganda.”
This is the point we’ve been making for months. Look at the reaction and coverage tonight. Tear jerker press conferences and proclamations of heroes coming soon. Imagine if people knew these folks’ names. Being Black in DC is more dangerous than any job. https://t.co/KqcmTNsnl1 pic.twitter.com/3W6KWp7Ng3

When someone tells you who they are, take them at their word. And this really tells you all you need to know about the current state of the Black Lives Matter movement. They were immediately willing to use the shooting of a police officer as propaganda to promote their campaign to “Stop” the Municipal Police Department.
The campaign material that the group pointed to attempts to claim that instances of excessive use of force by the police can not be written off as a few bad cops breaking the rules. Instead, the entire system of policing is supposedly the problem and it needs to be eliminated. In the eyes of the BLM activists, it’s the police who are the problem, not the gangs of criminals roaming the streets with illegal weapons and opening fire on the cops for the “sin” of attempting to ask them some questions.
Just yesterday we learned that the second of two New York City police officers had died from wounds he suffered when he and his partner were ambushed by armed gang members in Harlem. They are far from being the only cops that have already been attacked in the opening weeks of 2022. I find myself forced to wonder who the BLM Twitter account owner would consider the heroes in that situation. Would it be the deceased police officers or the thugs who shot them? I don’t think we need to ponder that question for very long to know the answer.
I’ve never been able to rid my mind of the image of one BLM “protest” a couple of years ago where a moronic young white girl was filmed holding a sign that read, “All My Heroes Kill Cops.” How far have we strayed as a society when there are teenagers willing to go out into the streets and create that sort of display? Many of them come from more “privileged” families and get to return to the safety of their parents’ homes when the riot ends. Do any of them consider as they lay in their beds that they wouldn’t have a safe home to return to if it weren’t for law enforcement?
If there was ever anything noble or valid about the beginning of the Black Lives Matter movement when it first arose, it’s all been washed away at this point. BLM in New York City threatened “fire and bloodshed” in the streets if the new (Black) mayor tried to bring back the gun crimes task force. BLM in the District of Columbia is openly celebrating the shooting of a police officer. None of this is about justice. It’s about hating the police and trying to destroy the thin blue line between order and chaos. BLM is on the side of chaos and it’s a disgrace.
