After the story of Michael Avenatti’s attempted shakedown of Nike broke, we learned that celebrity attorney Mark Geragos was also allegedly in on the action. He reportedly attended a meeting with Nike’s attorneys along with Avenatti. For years, Geragos had been a paid commentator on CNN, discussing legal matters, but shortly after his involvement in the Nike deal was revealed, CNN cut him loose. Turns out that didn’t sit very well with Geragos and he verbally opened fire on the network with both barrels during an appearance on Adam Carolla’s show. (Daily Caller)

Former CNN contributor Mark Geragos disparaged his old network during a Wednesday appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, only days after he was listed as a co-conspirator in a federal indictment against celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti earlier this week.

“They ought to change their name to the ‘Cut and Run Network,’” Geragos stated. “I’ve been texted by all of their anchors who are as outraged as I am that after 20 years, a press conference is enough to have them immediately want to disassociate themselves.”

“God forbid that I start telling some of the stories for how I’ve covered for that lame-ass organization,” he added, before also referring to the network as the “know-nothing network.”

Geragos’ former clients include Chris Brown and Colin Kaepernick. And just like those clients, Geragos is entitled to the presumption of innocence until a court puts the matter to rest. But with all that said, and no matter how you may feel about CNN’s political coverage, some of his complaints seem a bit far-fetched.

First of all, he’s saying that he was fired by “that lame-ass organization” as a result of a press conference. That’s not entirely true. He was listed in a federal indictment on some very serious charges. And if the feds have all their ducks in a row, they’ve got him on tape, in the room with Avenatti when he demanded $20 million as their own payment on top of the money being requested for a client.

Also, while he hasn’t provided any details yet, Geragos is saying he has stories about all the times he “covered for ” CNN. What does that even mean? It sounds like he’s implying that withheld information or perhaps even put out bogus statements to support the network. If that’s the case, he really wasn’t doing a very good job, was he?

If Geragos has any actual dirt on CNN that can be proven, he should stop feeding the rumor mill and come clean with it. And if not, perhaps he should focus on his own defense before he winds up needing a much better lawyer to handle a federal conspiracy rap.
