Roseanne Barr for President? Again?

It seems that I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the kickoff of the Roseanne show. From the online buzz it certainly felt like they were going to do well in the ratings, but racking up 18 million viewers is beyond just “good” in the ratings game these days. Those are in the range of Big Bang Theory numbers, and season 11 of that show is considered the “ratings giant” for early 2018.

Roseanne Barr said it was “exciting” and “sweet” for President Donald Trump to call and congratulate her on the record-breaking return of “Roseanne,” on a phone call today with “Good Morning America.”

“It was pretty exciting, I’ll tell you that much,” Barr said about the call.

The show was widely praised for fairly portraying a family with differing political views. Barr was reportedly adamant that her TV persona be a President Donald Trump supporter, like she is in real life.

So both Barr’s character and the real-life actress are being described as Trump supporters. She’s thrilled to get a call from him. Life is good. So what do you do to top all that off? Why, you threaten to run against him for his job in two years, obviously. (Washington Examiner)

Roseanne Barr running for president again is “never off the table,” according to the actress and comedian.

“I’m going to keep running until I win,” Barr told People in an article published Wednesday, referring to her unsuccessful bid for the White House in 2012 as California-based Peace and Freedom Party’s nominee.

In 2016, Barr voted for President Trump, and she’s now portraying a Trump supporter on screen in the reboot of her eponymous 1990s sitcom which premiered on ABC Tuesday to rave reviews…

“We’re lucky in this country that we can do that. We can really get our hands dirty and put our big collective shoulders to the wheel and change and fix things. I think that’s what’s exciting about our country right now,” she added.

So is she really going to run again? Naw. She’s just kidding. (Probably) It would be kind of funny though, wouldn’t it? Get a huge boost to your career from your support of the president and then turn around and launch a bid to unseat him?

I don’t believe that Barr ever seriously thought she was going to be elected when she ran in 2012. She was on the ballot in three states and certainly seemed to enjoy herself, but it’s not as if she ever had any momentum. Then again, she did fairly well compared to many others. She received 67,326 votes, coming in sixth overall with 0.05% of the popular vote. Maybe Trump has something to worry about after all.

All joking aside, Barr has generally had a knack for seizing the moment whether it’s in terms of her comedy and television career or grabbing the spotlight to get her message out. Right now she’s back on top and I’d expect her to be playing this moment for all its worth. And why wouldn’t she?
