It may have been when we communally decided that sending young people off to receive a higher education would somehow make society better in the long run. Long story short.. the University of Indiana faced a terrible scare this week when a KKK member in full robes, carrying a whip, was seen prowling the neighborhood after dark. Following all of the trigger warnings about rampant racism destroying our nation’s campuses everyone has been on high alert, so the word spread quickly across social media. FLEE AS YOU VALUE YOUR LIVES!

Facebook notifications went out urging everyone to stay indoors. Best to be safe, right? There’s no telling how many friends this racist maniac might have with him. Unfortunately, the alarm may have been been slightly exaggerated. As it turns out, the intruder wasn’t exactly a Klansman. (The Tab)

Rumors of a klansman on campus have proven false after a priest innocently made his way through Bloomington.

Last night around 9:15 PM, social media became a furious storm of confusion regarding a man in white robes roaming along 10th St. and purportedly armed with a whip.

Students thought the white robes indicated Klu Klux Klan affiliation.

Yes, it was a priest. And the “whip” was a Rosary. But I suppose that’s close enough. Even the #HeadDesk hashtag doesn’t do this one justice. How much are parents paying to send their kids to the University of Indiana these days? $21,412 for in-state residents? My, my… it’s a bargain at twice the price. But at least once the mistake was recognized, everyone apologized and moved on with their lives, right?
