“Hillary Clinton is fighting for us!”

This is the rallying cry we hear at Clinton campaign events around the country and from her endless stream of surrogates and supporters on the news. That’s good to know, because you want elected officials who are ready to get in there, get their hands dirty and produce some results. So what tangible victories has Secretary Clinton produced in her government career thus far? Don’t ask her friend Dianne Feinstein, because when put to the test by the local media she wasn’t able to come up with anything. (The Federalist)

Rep. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) told the San Francisco Chronicle‘s editorial board on Tuesday that Hillary Clinton wasn’t able to accomplish much during her nine-year tenure as a U.S. Senator.

“Golly, I forget what bills she’s been part of or authored. I didn’t really come prepared to discuss this,” Feinstein said in a meeting with the Chronicle’s editorial board to discuss her new water plan for the drought-stricken California. “But she’s been a good senator. There are things outside of bills that you can do, and I know that she’s done them for her state.”

Feinstein explained that because Clinton had served for such a short time – she served for nearly a decade, from 2001-2009 – she wasn’t able to gain the seniority necessary in the Senate to get things done.

“I couldn’t have done that as a freshman (senator) or even as a sophomore,” Feinstein said, referring to her own five-year-long investigation into the Central Intelligence Agency’s interrogation practices.

That’s some strange reasoning coming from one of Clinton’s most senior colleagues in the upper chamber. Assuming she’s still of sound mind, one would imagine that any major accomplishments of such a nationally famous figure would just leap off of her tongue. But essentially in the same breath, Feinstein turns around and pretty much admits that Clinton didn’t do anything because… she wasn’t there long enough? It was nearly a decade… how much time does one need to dig into the job and get things moving, particularly when the Senator in question is so well connected? Elizabeth Warren hasn’t been on the job for all that long and she pretty much drove through the creation of an entire new department.

The fact is that Feinstein isn’t the first to fumble this question and she won’t be the last. The reason is that Hillary Clinton has accomplished essentially nothing in terms of governmental action in her entire career. She was best known in the Senate for her “listening tour” of New York, where she invited voters from all over the Empire State to tell her what was on their minds. What become of that list of to do items is unknown because she authored no significant legislation which was ever passed into law. Even as Secretary of State she never managed much more than setting records for frequent flyer miles racked up and carbon dumped into the atmosphere from her endless world tours. As for her time as First Lady, well… you can forget about that. It’s not an elected office and the President’s spouse has no power and no business getting their hands on the gears of the government machinery. The one time she did try (in what should be considered a completely unconstitutional way) was Hillarycare, which failed as utterly as the rest of her efforts.

But surely we must be missing something, right? Feinstein couldn’t leave it at that and she did have some advice for those who are truly curious.

“I should have a list,” she said. “Get on Google.”

Believe me, Senator, we have. And Google doesn’t have a clue either.
