Another poll: Nope, ObamaCare's popularity still not improving

On Monday, Ed summarized three separate new polls from NBC/WSJ, Pew, and Rasmussen all attesting to Americans’ generally unfavorable opinions of ObamaCare and just how big of a challenge the Obama administration is facing in persuading enough people to sign up for the exchanges over the six month enrollment period beginning on October 1st.

Another Fox News poll released today reports several of the same findings, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars the administration, blue states, and supporting groups are spending on promoting the heck out of it:

Nearly 7 out of 10 voters are concerned about their personal health care under the Affordable Care Act and a majority wants to take the health care system back to 2009, according to the latest Fox News national poll.

The poll, released Tuesday, finds that 68 percent of voters are concerned about their health care under the new system.  That includes 43 percent “very” concerned and another 25 percent “somewhat” concerned.

The number feeling concerned is more than twice that of those who are unworried (31 percent).

Even a 56-percent majority of Democrats feels concerned (31 percent “very” concerned).  By comparison, 72 percent of independents and 77 percent of Republicans feel that way. …

The poll found that the comparatively least concerned age demographic was the under-30 crowd, and that even so, 60 percent of that group are still worried about the situation. They certainly should be worried, because ObamaCare is going to largely rely on young people purchasing more expensive health care plans that outsize their actual health care needs. The system needs them to counteract the inherently riskier insurance pools that ObamaCare creates, and young people’s relatively lackadaisical concern about health care and having insurance is exactly what the White House has been so fiercely trying to combat lately.

The poll also concludes that a consensus of 54 percent would prefer going back to the pre-2010 health care system, with only 35 percent wanting to keep the new law in place, and that President Obama’s personal handling of the matter isn’t faring much better:

An all-time high 58 percent of voters disapprove of how Obama’s handling of health care.  That includes a third of Democrats (33 percent), two-thirds of independents (65 percent) and a large 83-percent majority of Republicans.

Only 38 percent approve of the job the president is doing on health care, a mere one point above the low of 37 percent he hit on the issue in February 2010 when Democrats were still busily jamming the law through Congress without a single bipartisan vote. Ouch.
