DNC chief: Of course I know the party affiliation of the PAC about which I said I didn't know the party affiliation

Just to quickly follow up on Jazz’s post from Sunday, in which he recounted DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s eyebrow-raising insistence that she has “no idea of the political affiliation of the folks associated with that Super PAC” (“that Super PAC” being Priorities USA, the one founded by former Obama White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton that’s been running all of those viciously anti-Romney ads) — it seems that her feigning-ignorance was met with enough incredulity that she saw fit to walk it back:

“Soledad, of course I know the Priorities USA super PAC is a Democratic-affiliated super PAC,” Wasserman Schultz said. “But the point I was trying to make was that ad was produced by a separate organization, an organization that we don’t coordinate with, that we have nothing to do with.”

Uh huh. These latest comments came today from the midst of the Democrats’ “Romney Economics: Middle Class Under The Bus” tour currently hitting towns in Florida, which Democrats’ are currently using to convince seniors that Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan is cause for severe alarm. Also earlier today, DWS tweeted that “Paul Ryan is notably absent here in Florida today. No wonder: Seniors want nothing to do with #RomneyRyanEconomics.” Err, really?

A recent Rasmussen poll showed that 31 percent of likely senior voters gave Ryan a “very favorable” rating, compared with 21 percent of all legal-age voters giving him that rating. Just 16 percent of seniors gave him a “very unfavorable” rating.

So while Democrats are chipping away at Romney in Florida as the GOP candidate visits the Sunshine State on Monday, drawing attention to Ryan’s controversial Medicare overhaul plan, polling suggests seniors might be at least amenable to the VP pick.
