Great News: KJP, Kirby Announce Biden Will Hold a 'Big Boy Press Conference'!

Via Twitchy and Colin Rugg, a video that must be included but which largely speaks for itself. Both John Kirby and Karine Jean-Pierre announced this afternoon from the White House that Joe Biden will finally engage in a real press conference later this week, an event that past administrations used to have on a regular basis until recently. During the COVID pandemic, Trump would hold press conferences to the point of exhaustion, but the Biden team has offered the president to the press corps rarely and only for a small numbers of questions.

Now, with people demanding to know whether Biden has the cognitive capacity to remain president, the White House has little choice but to make him available for extensive and extemporaneous media questions. But the name a reporter used for the upcoming presser speaks volumes about their view of Biden, and the way Kirby and Jean-Pierre embraced the term exposes the lack of seriousness that the White House is taking Biden's credibility crisis:

Kirby: “After that the president will hold a press conference. I guess a big boy press conference is what we're calling it.”

Put aside the infantilization of Biden this term connotes, for both the reporter and Biden's two spokespeople. The adoption of this term by the latter doesn't demonstrate much connection to the electorate that has been shocked at Biden's debate performance ... and the cover-up it revealed. #YOLO LOL, or something.

It's hardly the worst thing either have done at the podium. The gaslighting that has been conducted has been far worse. But this shows the casual contempt this White House has for voters as well as for the reporters who have been waiting a very long time for a "big boy press conference" from Biden, not to mention interviews preferably without approved questions submitted ahead of time.

Speaking of which ... will the reporters in the White House press corps raise this issue with Biden when -- or maybe if -- the press conference takes place this week? Don't hold your breath.
