The Week in Review: The Definition of Insanity Is ...

Townhall Media

What stories topped your priority lists this week? It’s either the insanity of pretending Hamas is a potential partner for peace, or the insanity of the House Republican caucus. Duane “Generalissimo” Patterson and I cover both, and more! See update below!

Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.

Duane and I also discuss Joe Biden’s Oval Office speech last night and notice that Biden spent a lot more time on Ukraine than Israel. He barely said a word about Iran either, nor called out the Left for its orgy of anti-Semitism. Biden did scold Americans for their “Islamicphobia,” though. We also bookend the conversation with updates on the House Speaker election, which went exactly as we predicted earlier this morning.

Update: I have this in the Headlines too, but Jim Jordan’s bid collapsed a few minutes ago. After losing 25 members on the third ballot, Jordan called for a vote of confidence in his nomination — and apparently only got 86 votes in support. Jordan has withdrawn as the GOP’s Speaker nominee, and now Steve Scalise says he won’t renew his bid, either. Republicans say they will come back Monday to start over from scratch with a new “candidate forum.” So at least this cycle of insanity has been snapped. Stay tuned.

Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
