Is Liberty Safe II - COVID Boogaloo: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin

An old axiom states, “No one’s life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.” That’s doubly true of declared “emergencies,” as Adam Baldwin and I discuss, and which New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham proved the very next day after we recorded this episode. Lujan Grisham’s suspension of the federal Constitution over a “gun safety emergency” vindicated our warnings about how governments would use the pandemic lockdowns as a model for suppressing American rights via “emergencies.” Both the media and the establishment are revving up hysteria over the pandemic again, but are we better prepared to debunk and defang them this time around? (I have more on Lujan Grisham in an upcoming post.)

Welcome back to our VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

We actually discuss a wider range of topics in this episode. You can bet we’ll be talking about New Mexico’s suspension of the federal constitution in the next one, though! Highlights include:

  • “Why does the CDC benefit from COVID hysteria? Well, there’s funding and power that goes along,” Adam says. “So if they can help create hysteria, fudging the data as you say, then they maintain power.”
  • “It’s all been one big lie,” Adam says, and “they’re now caught. They won’t admit to it, of course, because that would be too damaging and too self inflicting and self defeating.” Howard Stern has become the most public example of the cognitive dissonance of the hysterics, Adam argues.
  • “We’re already hearing about climate emergencies and and what we can do to restrict restrict people during climate emergencies. This is a dry run, if you will,” I say, unaware that Grisham would prove me correct a day later. “Using this power through executive branch agencies to take liberty away from Americans as a 1st response, as a 1st priority. The 1st priority is not liberty, the 1st priority is control.
  • The politicization of the Department of Justice continues to emerge. While DoJ gets J6 rioters max sentences, the DoJ argued for leniency in an arson-murder in the George Floyd riots in Minneapolis.
  • Disney is in a world of trouble, both in its lawfare against Ron DeSantis and in its financials, thanks to their new battle with Charter/Spectrum. They’re trying to make up their losses at the box office and theme parks with big price increases for ESPN and other cable channels, but instead are losing money while cable platforms refuse to pay the increases. Is this end of sports as we know it — or the end of Disney?
  • Adam has a message for conservatives at the very end, via Kurt Schlichter, too!

Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
