Is Liberty Safe? The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

Has Liberty Safe become the new Bud Light of Second Amendment vendors? More importantly, has America become the Bud Light of liberty? The signs of decline in liberty are all around us, Adam Baldwin argues, and becoming unmistakable. California is working to turn parents into criminals if they object to their children’s “gender identity” choices, and the mainstream media is partnering with government to shape the political battleground for more COVID-related government restrictions on public access. College campuses are producing more speech-restricting authoritarians than liberty-minded leaders, according to a new FIRE report. Are we entering a doom loop for American freedom?

Welcome back to our VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

Highlights from this episode include:

  • “Sean Davis says all you had to do was tell the feds to come back with a court order,” Adam says about the Liberty Safe incident, “which they wouldn’t have been able to do. Instead, you voluntarily sold out your customers and then bragged about it.”
  • “My guess is that federal judge probably would have given them a lot of leeway in signing a court order for that code,” I respond, based on my own experiences. But after marketing their product to the #2A market on the basis of liberty, this was embarrassing at best. “So the first time that this thing comes up, you just simply roll over because the FBI made a phone call? I mean, that is uncool, just put it that way,” I say.
  • We also discuss the lengthy prison sentences pursued by the DoJ in the January 6 riot cases, but then note where they’re requesting leniency in other riots. “The Department of Justice is in Minneapolis arguing for a lenient sentence for a guy who committed murder during the George Floyd riots,” involving an arson that killed a pawn shop owner. “And they’re arguing for leniency,” I add, “because basically, Oh, he was an oppressed individual at the same time.”
  • “This is reparative justice,” Adam replies. “This is all just of a piece of the whole Marxist revolution that they’re attempting. And they’ve got their meat hooks into the Justice Department and the FBI.”

That’s just the first few minutes of the episode. Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
