What stories topped your priority lists this week? Duane Patterson and I note that few stories dominated the headlines this week — and Duane discounted the one that did. “I will cede that ground,” Duane reluctantly says about the Fox-Dominion settlement. “That it is the most important story of the week … in a week that didn’t have a lot of important news. With that said, my lack of caring about the importance of that story immeasurable.” I argue, however, that it will have an impact on the GOP primaries — and then move on to a number of other topics.

Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.
What other topics did we cover today?
- The siege in Khartoum: “So they’re going to have a ceasefire,” I say, “maybe just long enough for us to stage and then execute an exfiltration of at least the embassy personnel. There are nineteen thousand Americans in Sudan and probably most of them are in Khartoum,” I add “so they’re not going to get the civilians out.”
- Biden’s screwed this up too, Duane points out. “He’s a foreign policy guy. He was the one that was brought on to the ticket with Barack Obama to give him foreign policy chops because he had gravitas, right?” Duane asks. “He supposedly was the foreign policy expert. He’s supposed to know all this stuff and he’s been an unmitigated disaster for 50 years. He doesn’t. He gets caught flat footed all the time, and when he does get to make a decision, it’s almost always the wrong one.”
- Duane paid Elon Musk to keep the blue check, and explains why — and it’s a reasonable business approach.
- What matters more in politics — logic or emotion? Both of us get rather passionate debating that point!
