Debate previews and media skews: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

Want to see the debate between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis? Adam Baldwin and I do our best to model it in today’s episode. With a steak dinner hanging in the balance, Adam takes on Trump’s arguments while I counter with DeSantis’. However, we both agree that the sudden media narrative proclaiming DeSantis as flopping seems very self-serving …

Welcome back to my VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

“The reason why they’re creating the DeSantis-stumbling narrative,” I say, is “they’re going to paint him as a bumbler because they’d really like to see Donald Trump get the nomination. And it’s strictly a business proposition for them if Trump gets the nomination — they can look forward to tons of clicks, tons of page views,” I continue. “It’s practically the Pundit Full Employment Act.”

Nevertheless, Adam responds, DeSantis will have a real problem when it comes to the debates, especially if he tries to embrace the MAGA label. “Trump will stand on that stage and say, ‘Listen to this guy. He loves my policies. He knows that what I was trying to do is good for America, was gonna make America great again. And I was thwarted by the very insiders that are supporting him in the GOP establishment, the same group that thwarted me in coordination with the Democrats. Ronnie here sounds like a Democrat when he does blah, blah, blah’,” Adam says. “And he’ll go on that schtick and say, ‘I can hit the ground running, I can come into office and I’ll have all my policies.'”

We discuss Chip Roy’s contention that it’s time for new blood, which Adam thinks is a trap. Biden is merely “a puppet than only represents the Democrat Party of the old middle of the road,” Adam says, while the radicals “are propping him up and they’re telling him what to do.” Adam cites a recent Victor Davis Hanson article on this topic, noting that Biden is a front man whose purpose is to distract from the “polyester revolutionary socialists” that the party has become. Trump, Adam argues, is no one’s front man.

It’s a spicy debate — and yet amiable too! Hope you enjoy it, and join the conversation in the comments.
