Super Bowl, super character, super censorship, and more: Off the Beaten Path!

Not to mention a super video-bomb by Larry O’Connor’s Salem News producer! Before we get to that, however, Larry and I start off the week with some reflections on the Super Bowl — the game itself, but also a couple of positive examples of character from Eagles stars that remind us of the potential value in sports. First, we open with a discussion of the egregious McCarthyite tactics of GDI and why using “disinformation” for dissent is so offensive — and dangerous.

Welcome back to our new VIP video series “Off the Beaten Path,” featuring my friend Larry O’Connor! The Townhall columnist and Salem News Channel host starts off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Larry previews tonight’s SNC show!

“I’m trying to laugh it off,” Larry says about the Microsoft/GDI exposé, “because I’m so done with it,” meaning the Left’s constant attempts to shut down conservatives. “It is infuriating,” he continues, “not only because how un-American it is … What have we been talking about that’s suddenly ‘disinformation’? You mean the Hunter Biden laptop story, which ends up being true?”

We then get into more fun discussions of the Super Bowl, and how Jalen Hurts and James Bradberry showed remarkable character in refusing to blame the refs for their loss. Larry argues that football is more oriented to honor than other sports, although we both know that it produces plenty of disappointments in that regard, too. We also briefly discuss the transgender controversies, and both of us recall the social panic of “recovered memory” and how closely the supposed “science” of transition — especially pediatric transition — seems to follow that model from the 1980s.

Enjoy the conversation, and be sure to join it in the comments!
