Suddenly, we can talk about COVID: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

Not suddenly here, but certainly on social media — and the media scolds are suddenly retreating on COVID. Republicans promise to get answers on a broad range of issues in the pandemic, and not just in Congress. That’s bad news for the Left, Adam Baldwin says. “They don’t want to admit that they screwed up because it’ll make them look bad,” Adam says. “They won’t have shame because they cannot be shamed by people that aren’t in their cult. We just have to just ignore them,” and get to the answers.

Welcome back to my VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

And we need answers across a lot of issues. Rather than rely on the scientific method which requires skepticism, questions, and especially replicability, the government and the media demanded compliance and shut down any efforts to get answers to questions about effectiveness on policies and treatments. Even if you stipulate to the emergency situation in 2020 — I do, while Adam is more skeptical — the emergency has been passed for almost two years after the vaccines and the mutations to less-dangerous strains of the virus. Why, then, are the media resisting efforts to get some accountability for the effects of those policies and to find out just what the vaccines do and don’t do?

“What can we expect from the five year cycle on these things?” I ask. “What can we expect from a three year cycle? … And if the CDC isn’t going to do it, then the governors of the state should start demanding those answers.” Ron DeSantis plans to do just that, we both note, and we’re already seeing pushback over whether it will be good for DeSantis’ presidential prospects. Both Adam and I agree that DeSantis and other governors should be seeking those answers for good governance rather than political advantage. And we both point out that the vaunted Fourth Estate seems more interested in covering up than in covering the failures and open questions from the pandemic.
