Democrats' midterm abortion trap and the incoherence of the Left: The Amiable Skeptics featuring Adam Baldwin!

“The lady has lost the plot,” Adam Baldwin said of Stacey Abrams’ attempt to merge abortion and inflation on the campaign trail. The problem for Democrats is that they don’t have an answer on either — and both issues make them look extreme. “It’s a new Orwellian term,” Adam continues. “Abortion is economics. Kill the babies, save the money.”

Welcome back to my VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel SerenityChuck, and The Last Ship.

Democrats like Stacey Abrams never get clued in to how radical they sound with this kind of rhetoric, Adam points out, because “she is running in circles that praise her for that sort of radicalism.”

The polling in this cycle may have woken a few of the woke to their predicament, I respond. “Bernie Sanders and some of the other progressive hard-liners are saying, ‘We’ve gone too far,'” I note. However, this points out “an incoherence to the Left,” I add, which goes well beyond mere hypocrisy. “Democrats really wanted to make this a huge, a huge issue after the Dobbs decision,” I say, in order to paint Republicans as out of touch. As it turns out, though, Democrats’ own position is so extreme that they’ve now been put in the position of both trying to raise the issue and avoid answering the policy questions it prompts. And it’s not working.

But the problem runs even deeper, Adam argues. Planned Parenthood is “a leftist euphemism. … ‘Let’s eliminate the family’ is their plan.”
