I could have added this as an update to the post earlier this morning, but this is too much fun to have buried at the bottom of a thread.  American Crossroads has a new ad out today that rejects the skepticism and cynicism that has some (Democrats) urging our esteemed Vice President to do almost anything else but run for another term.  The new spot, which hopefully will see air time soon, acts as a Biden’s Greatest Hits Volume I — which doesn’t include his latest singles “Nothing Could Be Finer than to be in Carolina Oops Virginia” and “Twentieth Century Faux,” but does have Biden’s off-key rendition of “Chains of Fools.”  Who doesn’t want this man on a major-party ticket as the argument for the judgment of the man who selected him for the nation’s back-up plan?  Republicans certainly do:

Is that our friend Jason Mattera in there, getting a lecture on how Republicans want more murder and rape?  Why yes it is.  Since that episode was from last year, let’s refresh our memories on this four-Pinocchio performance from Sheriff Joe:

I actually laughed out loud when I read this scolding from Kessler, who gives Biden the maximum four Pinocchios for his ludicrous argument:

“In any case, the vice president should know better than to spout off half-baked facts in service of a dubious argument. Even if one believes there is a link between crime and the number of police—which is debatable and subject to many caveats—there is no excuse to make the dramatic claim that more people will die or be raped without additional funds for police. When making such a breathtaking charge, you had better have your facts straight.”

The Veep “should know better than to spout off half-baked facts in service of a dubious argument”?  Hey, that’s Joe Biden’s entire life.  Remember “Recovery Summer”?  Does anyone recall Biden telling CBS News how President Franklin Delano Roosevelt went on television after the 1929 crash to reassure America, even though FDR was two years away from winning his first presidential election and the only people watching TV in 1929 were those experimenting with the technology?  The only time I can recall Biden getting anything right was when he gave speeches during his presidential bid in 1987 about the hard life of his family — and the only reason he got it right was because he was talking about Neil Kinnock’s family in speeches Biden plagiarized from the British politician.

Besides, Biden never intended to debate the facts.  He just wanted to sling mud in an attempt to demagogue rational opposition to a replay of the same policies that brought us Biden’s “Recovery Summer” in 2010.  He should get a couple of McCarthys to go along with his Pinocchios.

I’m with American Crossroads.  Let’s have a debate over which party takes the one-heartbeat-away-from-the-presidency issue more seriously.  Run, Joe, Run*!

Update: Via Drudge, the LA Times reports that it’s been two months since the White House press office has released a Biden transcript:

There are other indications that aides are attempting to minimize the dissemination of uncomfortable moments — whether they be genuine gaffes or moments they worry will be misrepresented. The White House press office has not released a complete transcript of any Biden speech, whether campaign or official, in more than two months. Transcripts for all of Obama’s speeches, however, are distributed quickly, as they are for many of the first lady’s events.

Aides acknowledge that Biden was vulnerable to a “gaffe-watch,” given his reputation.

Yeah, well, that reputation was well-established before Obama put him a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.
