Happy New Year From the Stable Geniuses of Hot Air!

Usually, I would crack a joke about how glad I am that 2024 is in the rear-view mirror in one of these posts.

But frankly, that would be churlish. After all, for Republicans, the suckiness ended on November 5th, and it has been nonstop schadenfreude since. As we all know, schadenfreude is the next best thing to pure joy. So, while I wouldn't mind forgetting much about 2024, the past couple of months have been pretty awesome.

On the other hand, 2025 has the potential to be even more awesome, assuming that the Republicans in the House of Representatives can manage to avoid killing each other, or at least not blow their chance to make historic changes that will secure a brighter future for America.

And there's at least a 10% chance of that, so there is hope. It will require some very stubborn people to set aside their egos, their legitimate and not-so-legitimate qualms, and trust the awesomeness that the newly (re-?)elected President Trump can provide.

Trump may be far from perfect, but he IS awesome, and if he is going to get anything done, he will need all our backing. To the dismay of some of you, I may not always praise him, but for the next year, he will have my support even when I disagree with him.

2024 felt like the year that the fever finally broke. For a while there, it seemed like America and the West were on the path to extinction. The Biden administration felt like a reality show called "Gays Gone Wild," where a geriatric pedophile fondled women and children as his menagerie of weirdos simultaneously pranced around in drag outfits while setting the world on fire. At the same time, our Western allies clapped in the audience, hooting and hollering.

But most of these governments are falling--goodbye, Justin Trudeau, I was never glad to know you. Pierre Poilievre will be an upgrade.

The Democrat Civil War will be fun to watch as well. The loons at MSDNC will keep screaming about Donald Trump, of course, but the fight between Democrats who want to win and the ones who just want to kill babies and trans the kids will keep most of them tied up for months, and not in the way that their constituents consider fun.

Like you, I can't wait to see what DOGE will do and how Trump is going to resolve the Ukraine war, as I expect he will.

Yes, 2025 promises to be a good year. At some point, all the winning will slow down, although, contrary to Trump, I don't think we will get tired of winning.

It's appropriate that we begin the new year filled with optimism. It has been a long time since I, at least, felt this much hope for the future. This feels like 1981 and Reagan--things may suck now and there will be some trials ahead, but if we do the work and keep the faith America will come out of this period even stronger than before.

Which is totally appropriate: in 2026 America turns 250. Nothing seems quite so appropriate for such an occasion than a gold plated Donald Trump over the top celebration of a country that nearly invented exuberance. With any luck, Elon Musk will land a rocket on Mars and plant a flag there on July 4th, 2026!

So buckle up. In 20 days America's future begins.
