The mighty state of Bahamas–whose political class did very well from the generosity of Sam Bankman-Fried–has successfully bullied the weak United States of America–whose Democrat members of the political class also did very well from the generosity of Sam Bankman-Fried–into dropping campaign finance charges that had been lodged against the crypto-fraud mogul.

The US is famous for heeding the commands and wishes of small and powerless governments like the Bahamas. America has a long history of bowing to the wishes of small countries when it comes to legal matters, given how dependent our national security is upon their restraint. Without the Bahamas, our struggle against Chinese aggression might falter. War might erupt, threatening Miami or something.

Cruise lines might fold.

What political levers might the US use to persuade a mighty power like the Bahamas from exercising its might against us? I can’t think of one.

This is ridiculous. The US government is dropping these charges against one of the biggest scammers of the 21st century, conveniently taking out of the public eye the massive campaign finance fraud that led to tens of millions of dollars flowing into the coffers of the Democrat Party.

Federal prosecutors pursuing the criminal case against the cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried said on Wednesday that they were dropping a charge that he violated campaign finance rules.

Mr. Bankman-Fried was charged with fraud and campaign finance violations in December after the sudden collapse of his company, the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. He was quickly extradited to the United States from the Bahamas, where FTX was based.

But in a court filing on Wednesday night, the prosecutors said the Bahamas had informed them that the nation’s government had not intended to extradite Mr. Bankman-Fried on the campaign finance charge.

“In keeping with its treaty obligations to the Bahamas, the government does not intend to proceed to trial on the campaign contributions count,” the prosecutors’ filing said.

The authorities have said Mr. Bankman-Fried and others at FTX used customer deposits to make $90 million in campaign contributions to some 300 political candidates or political action committees. Months ago, prosecutors and bankruptcy lawyers for FTX began asking recipients of those donations to return them.

$90 million. Of stolen money. Going almost exclusively to Democrats.

Poof. Those charges are gone. Because we don’t want to offend the Bahamas.

Uh, yeah. Right.

Got it. Wouldn’t want to do that, would we? Maybe trade relations would suffer. Or something. Who knows? Why risk it?

Now I have nothing against the Bahamas. They sound really nice to me. The weather is not my speed, but perhaps I would enjoy the change of pace if I went in January. I know my wife would love it. Personally, I wouldn’t want to offend The Bahamas if I could help it.

But something tells me that something else is going on. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that if the Justice Department wanted to prosecute those charges they could have without the Bahamas going to war with us, or even dropping the extradition treaty.

Prosecutors are planning a second trial on the five charges that were withdrawn in June, including an accusation that Mr. Bankman-Fried bribed a foreign government. They said they had to postpone a trial on those counts while litigation over the extradition unfolded in the Bahamas.

Bribed a foreign government. Meaning the Bahamas. We are deferring to the Bahamian government that was f’ing BRIBED by the defendant.

Make it make sense.

This is just another example of Biden’s two-tier justice system.

And by that, I am not referring to the benefit to Bankman-Fried–he is toast no matter what–but rather how this gets a lot of Democrats off the hook. Not only are the campaign finance issues off the table for discussion but whatever collateral testimony Bankman-Fried might have given that would embarrass Democrats is off the table as well.

Bankman-Fried is toast because he can no longer funnel cash to his erstwhile protectors. He is no further use. So he can rot in jail. Probably a pretty nice jail, but everybody just wants him to go away. He served his purpose. He will need to develop a new polycule when this is all over.

So the goal is to protect the establishment. And, lo and behold, we defer to the Bahamas–who Bankman-Fried bribed.
