What do you do if you are a gay man who beats up a pregnant woman and she successfully fights back?
Create a hate hoax where you are the victim, that’s what.
Scott Rowin spoke to San Diego media about being the victim of a gay bashing where he was set it fire. It was a hoax. CCTV captured him beating a pregnant woman until she was bloody. She set him on fire & he fled. Nevertheless, many on social media fell for the hoax & said it was… pic.twitter.com/pwxFkBAqgY

Scott Rowin was, for reasons unknown, beating up a pregnant woman. Somehow she manages to set him on fire (no idea how, but good job!), and he runs away before the police arrive. There are multiple witnesses, and unbeknownst to Rowen the incident was caught on CCTV cameras.
John wrote about this yesterday. Ironically we each wrote articles at precisely the same time…my take will be a bit different though.
Here’s a recap of the facts: Rowen needed medical attention, so he concocts a story about being gay bashed, and the MSM and Twitter warriors picked up the story. It was so sensational and so useful to The Narrative that despite it having been revealed to be a hoax, as of this writing the first stories you find when you look up the incident are all about how Rowin was the victim of a hate crime.
You have to poke around to find out the real story. These are the first stories you get when you search Rowin’s name…nothing about this being a hoax. It takes work to find that out for some reason.
Here are the events as Scott Rowin recounted them to ABC News:
Last Monday night, Rowin says stopped by The Loft on Fifth Avenue and inquired about a job. He left past 8 p.m. and headed south, towards his downtown apartment, intending to call an Uber.
His memory is hazy, but somewhere within a few blocks, he heard what sounded like two people yelling gay slurs.
“Started hearing f*** this, f*** that. The word came up quite a bit,” said Rowin.
With no one around him, Rowin, who is gay, realized the slurs were being directed at him.
“I yelled back a couple of things, ‘Hey, that’s f*** up!’” said Rowin.
Moments later, he heard footsteps behind him.
As he turned around, he says he caught a quick glimpse of one of the people, a man in his 20s or 30s. At the same time, he says a liquid was thrown at him, with the consistency of water.
“Immediately after that, I went up like coals on a barbecue. It started off really big,” said Rowin.
On fire, Rowin says stopped, dropped, and rolled on the cement, patting himself and quickly putting out the flames.
“Just in survival mode. Just in the zone, I have to save my life,” said Rowin.
Sounds horrific, doesn’t it? If this truly happened I would be happy to send those men who assaulted Mr. Rowin to jail. They could find out what getting set upon by angry men would feel like.
Rowin suffered second-degree burns, mostly along his side and back. It’s unclear if he’ll need surgery.
“This is absolutely a hate crime. The slurs were hate-filled,” said Rowin.
As the stream of slurs replays in his mind, Rowin is keenly aware of the upcoming Pride events.
“Nobody walks around with flammable liquid like without an agenda. In my opinion, they were obliviously out there targeting the LGBT community,” said Rowin.
Rowin shares his story in hopes of spreading awareness.
Indeed he does. He wants people to be aware of the fact that he wasn’t a perpetrator of a crime, but the victim of a horrible hate crime. I am shocked that nobody yelled, “This is MAGA country!”
Now any reasonable person would have been skeptical of that story for any number of reasons. First of all, it is remarkably useful to The Narrative™, and you should always be skeptical. Secondly, San Diego isn’t exactly known as a place where such events are routine.
Well, if you happened to be one of those cynics who suspected that Scott was full of crap, your cynicism would have been rewarded. Not too long after Scott told his truly harrowing story to ABC News 10, another more plausible story–if still weird–turned up. So plausible that the whole thing was caught on camera.
Rowin was assaulting a pregnant woman, beating her bloody enough to wind up in the hospital, taken there by police who had been searching for Rowin.
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating after they say a man who said he was a victim of a hate crime was shown on video assaulting a pregnant woman.
According to San Diego Police, officers received calls about a man attacking a pregnant woman on the 900 block of 6th Avenue just after 10:40 p.m. on June 12.
“Officers were dispatched and arrived within minutes, but the suspect had already fled the scene,” the department said.
The department said the woman was bleeding and suffering from injuries when officers arrived. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Just before midnight, police received a report on the 1200 block of Market Street from a man who said he was set on fire, the department said.
“Investigators determined that this man was the suspect who battered the pregnant woman from the earlier incident at 900 6th Avenue,” police said. “Investigators have since determined the pregnant female was responsible for the burn injuries.”
Detectives have since located security footage San Diego Police say shows the “initial physical assault by the man on the pregnant woman and the subsequent use of fire as a weapon by the pregnant woman on the man.”
No word yet on whether she shouted slurs at him during the altercation. One would suspect not.
All I can say is that in a more just world, Rowin would have suffered a bit more damage from his brush with fire.
There are multiple lessons here, but the most important one is the most obvious: the media will tell you the story they want you to hear, and be very reluctant to deviate from the narrative. The fact that this turned out to be a hoax after so much hype about the “hate crime” should have warranted similar coverage, but it doesn’t get it.
They want you to believe what they want you to believe, and Rowin himself knew that. He landed on this hoax as one of the best ways to get out of responsibility for himself committing a crime. He understands that being a victim is a superpower, and being an LGBTQ+ victim is the best kind.
