Regime media strikes again

The MSM should be renamed “Regime Media.” Or, perhaps, “Truth.”

Pravda means “truth” in Russian. And Pravda is what our MSM has become. Pravda, in this case, was the Russian newspaper that did nothing but tell lies.

Jonathan Lemire is the POLITICO White House Bureau Chief, and ironically the author of a book called The Big Lie. Apparently, his research for the book taught him a thing or two about lying. The big liar in his telling was, of course, Donald Trump. Now while I am not exactly going to shill for Trump and claim that he is not, in fact, given to lies and hyperbole, Trump has nothing on the MSM.

Lemire maintains that Biden has been a patient dealmaker over the debt ceiling, but Republicans have been intransigent and unwilling to come to the table to discuss the debt ceiling. Biden is a brilliant dealmaker, but those dastardly Republicans are so extreme that they won’t even sit down to talk to the president.

Uh, yeah, Whatever. When you start your analysis with the claim that Biden is a dealmaker, you pretty much outed yourself as Karine Jean-Pierre, one of the least honest people in Washington. Lemire is vying for the title. He may actually deserve it. Pierre, after all, is paid to lie. Lemire claims he is paid to tell the truth.

Biden wouldn’t sit down to meet with McCarthy over the debt limit. He refused again and again, and the MSM and the Democrats repeated the mantra that the Republicans had no plan and must give in to the demands of the president. Biden openly refused to even consider any kind of “dealmaking,” as he has on everything else. He is currently talking about unconstitutionally ignoring the law and simply keep spending money and borrowing without congressional approval–the so-called 14th Amendment option.

That is not what POLITICO wants us to believe. They demand we accept The Big Lie that Biden is the compromiser. In fact, the Republicans are the only ones who have a plan on the table, already passed out of the House. It is pretty modest in its demands, too. Not that you would know it from the coverage.

The nation stands on the precipice of an unprecedented financial calamity, testing whether the president’s theory of governance can continue to work.

President Joe Biden has prioritized deal-making through much of the debt ceiling talks, laboring to work across the aisle even at the risk of alienating the liberal wing of his own party.

But with talk taking a turn for the worse this weekend, he and his team are now being forced to tinker with their approach, dialing up criticism in hopes that the specter of default and public blame for it will move GOP negotiators.

On Sunday, Biden called on Republicans “to move from their extreme positions because much of what they’ve proposed is simply, quite frankly, unacceptable.”

“There’s no bipartisan deal to be made solely, solely, on their partisan terms. They have to move as well,” he said during a news conference that closed his visit to Japan for the G-7 summit.

Biden has not moved an inch. He has, in fact, upped his demands, causing a breakdown of the talks over the debt limit that recently began. It is breathtaking in its chutzpah.

But why should he budge? He has the regime media, or Pravda on his side. Their goal is to promote an alternate reality where Biden is a moderate dealmaker and the Republicans are irresponsible extremists.

Biden and his team had been buoyed by their belief that a consensus building approach — though perpetually doubted — worked for them before, including with the passage of an infrastructure package and the far-reaching legislation that became the Inflation Reduction Act. But the debt ceiling standoff has so far proved stubbornly different, with Republicans showing a surprisingly united front and the president risking taking the brunt of the blame if the nation defaults for the first time in its history.

Biden has built a consensus. Uh, yup, I guess so. 100% of the media agrees with him, so that is a consensus of sorts. Who cares about the rest of the country, which is increasingly turning its back on the president? Even Democrats are starting to wake up to how profoundly dishonest and destructive the president is, not that they will make Biden pay a price.

Biden has spent the past several years viciously slandering anybody with whom he disagrees. He gave a dark and divisive speech in which he called half the country fascists, with a backdrop that made him appear to be the most demagogic and destructive fascist in world history. The image reminds of an eagle with spread wings, the aggressive hand gestures. The dark warnings about a 5th column. The uniformed military guards.

Biden is as moderate as Jim Jones and as interested in making deals as Ayatollah Khomeini.

And yet Jonathan Lemire can, as a political reporter and analyst, seriously claim that Biden is a dealmaker who may reluctantly be forced to consider radical action to save America.

During the French Revolution, a document was penned called the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen. It was a soaring statement about human dignity and became part of the constitution of the First French Republic.

That constitution was never implemented, because there was an “emergency.” We know how that went. What followed was The Terror, in which nobody had any rights at all.

Great rhetoric is not always a Big Lie, but it most often is when spouted by the powerful. One of the justifications for the privileges of the media is that they are the “Fourth Estate,” there to ensure that the powerful are held accountable.

Lately, the media has not been the 4th Estate, but a Fifth Column itself, dedicated to undermining truth and the rights of citizens.
