Segregation is back in public schools

Bill Hudson

I was born in 1964, a decade after Brown v Board of Education started the process of desegregating public schools. When I was in graduate school in North Carolina I regularly met people who had attended segregated schools, and they weren’t much older than I.

It was sobering. Having attended public schools in Tucson, AZ, segregation seemed like a historical phenomenon from a distant past. Sure, there was racial tension, but nobody I met ever had any direct experience with segregated schools.

Now, nearly 70 years after the Brown decision, segregation is becoming a reality once again, if with very different excuses. I am not sure if the reasons themselves are different–I actually think that many of the new proponents of segregation have the same fundamental belief that Blacks are intellectually inferior to Whites.

But they now couch their excuse for separating Black and White students as an act of compassion and solidarity with our Black and Brown brothers, rather than as protecting White students from Blacks. Now we are supposedly protecting minorities from the evils of White Supremacy.

Whatever the excuse, the effect is the same. The fine folks of Evanston, IL are segregating math classes, providing courses that are exclusively for Blacks or Latinos.

Evanston’s racial distribution is a mirror of America’s. The majority is White, with substantial populations of Blacks and Latinos. Here is the census breakdown of the population:

Inescapably this means that the majority White population has approved of the idea of separating their children from minorities, except for Asians. Asians, you see, are White adjacent according to the new woke racial hierarchy.

Evanston isn’t doing this because it has suddenly become a haven of White supremacy, although that was the case decades ago. The new segregationists are Leftists who believe that the evil race is White people, not Blacks.

But racialism is the same, just reborn as a slightly different Democrat mantra.

Unsurprisingly, both long ago and today it is the Democrats leading the charge to set the races against each other. At base, the Democrat Party maintains its support by dividing people up into identity groups. Race today is just one of many such identity groups, but Democrats can’t win without creating vicious and enduring division.

The new alphabet ideology has become a key factor in promoting these divisions. Nobody I know hates the victims of the alphabet cult, and in the case of children being groomed, we are nearly panicked to save them from being sterilized and mutilated. Our beef is with the victimizers, not the victims.

In return, we are vilified by the Left and their minions in the media, who constantly lie about what we are fighting for and about the policies being implemented. Removing pornography from schools is “book banning,” opposing child mutilation is “genocide,” and speaking up is “violence.”

Look at what is happening in the real world. People who speak up peacefully are physically assaulted by mobs, the MSM accuses us of the vilest crimes, and the President of the United States promotes alphabet ideology just days after a trans-terrorist guns down 3 children and 3 adults.

This is, we are told, anti-fascism. This is “self-defense” against us genocidal maniacs.

If you had told me 15 years ago that public schools would openly promote segregated classrooms I would have scoffed, which tells you how naive I was. If you had told liberals in 1980 or 1990 that it would be the Left promoting segregation in public schools, they would have been shocked.

It is common now to find videos in the genre of “White people are evil” on Twitter, TikTok, or even in DEI training sessions. Videos like this:

Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo have made careers out of denouncing White people, and the Establishment has embraced their message wholeheartedly. Kendi’s book “How to Be an Anti-Racist” was put on a reading list by the Navy, for instance, and DEI rules the land.

Our objections to this promotion of racism as a positive good is, in turn, denounced as racist. And such accusations are endlessly repeated and have become an accepted fact by millions.

Yet the fact remains: it is the Left, not the Right, who are resegregating our schools. It’s right there in black and white.

You just won’t hear about that fact in the MSM.
